Ever hear of firmware? Remember the USB thumb drives that are so small and so popular and can hold so much data (I have a 1GB Cruizer drive I carry in my small pocket)? Doesnt take much to crack the case of one of those drives and place one of those chips onto a board, write the code to use that for the hard drive instead of the drives your used to in your desktop or laptop. Wyse makes a thin client thats about the size of a dayplanner with a FlashROM that can be programmed anyway you want it to. So, am I thinking voter fraud? Yep, abso-damn-lutely!

I have a brother-in-law who can't stop the barrage either. At family get-togethers it used to get sooooo boring just listening to him rambling on and on about the government and foreign policy... I'm all for politics but sometimes I wanted to hit him on the head and yell "Shut up, it's Christmas!"

Then we realized that the old cranky neighbor was exactly the same way but with the opposite opinion. We started inviting him to everything and sure enough... they'd get into a 10 hour heated discussion and we'd party in peace on the other side of the house.

There is nothing you post here in regard to notary issues. It's all about your whacko political, socialistic agenda.

I'm sorry you're still struggling with the the illusion of the chad controvery....three years ago? It's time to move on Jahari. Everyone else has.

But...if you're so convinced that you have discovered something new...something no one else has ever seen in the realm of your political biases and the supposed plot to overthrow the world by Republicans? YIKES!!!

I believe you test the gullibility of everyone whom has ever dealt with embedded systems,
BIOS, CMOS, video games, robotics, printer drivers, graphics controllers,
postscript interpreters, or any other ROM based application.

If I am reading this correctly, you are stating;

" Doesnt take much ???
- crack the case of one of those drives
- place one of those chips onto a board, or Flash a Wyse Eprom/FlashROM
- write the code to use that for the hard drive "

With the exception of "exposing the drive", You need not concern yourself with being associated with the term 'pragmatic'...
but you may want to watch out for irrational, ill conceived, unrealistic, and unfeasible.

Not sure which 'Mission Impossible' episode you are watching, but assuming you had
the coding prowess, knew the device package;

( DIP, SDIP, PDIP, LCC, PLCC, QFP, TQFP, PQFP, VQFP, SOIC, SOP, PSOP,SON, TSOP, TSOP2, STSOP, TSSOP, SSOP, BGA, uBGA, etc...),

had the programmer that supported;

(NAND FLASH, EPROM, EEPROM, FLASH memory, GAL, PEEL, EPLD, CPLD, FPGA, Serial PROM,
Parallel PROM, CMOS PROM, Microcontrollers, etc...),

could attain the correct Adapter and Emulator,

why not just consider Real Time In-circuit Emulation, IC reprogramming, or ??? ... nevermind,
I don't want you to hurt yourself with technical aspects that deal in reality...especially when
this was actually a political overtone with politi-jahari undertones. ROFL...URKill'n me...

and a couple of phone calls show that the particular voting machine that used that board had been de-certified by most counties and now a lot of spare parts are hitting the internet. . That machine has not been used since 2005. Counties want a machine that prints the voters choices after they vote so the voter gets a copy and the county retains one in case of a hand recount. This board is missing a printer interface ... Now, some enterprising individuals are trying to make a quick buck.

http://cgi.ebay.com/DIEBOLD-AccuVote-TSX-Motherboard-Brand-New_W0QQitemZ330017349809QQihZ014QQcategoryZ162QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Anyone wanna guess what this is used for?

Cali made this about politics which it is not. TG made this about a left wing socialist agenda which it is not. Winston did the usual d**k waving trying to prove he's smarter than me (keep trying by the way) by using tech jargon only he and I could understand.

No matter how these people try to mock and discredit this thread or myself, I maintain that this is about two things...democracy and voting rights, yours and mine. The posting of a motherboard for an electronic voting machine poses lots of questions and concerns people like TG, Al, Winston, Cali and some others refuse to ask like:

1.) WTF is a brand new motherboard for an electronic voting machine doing on ebay?

2.) Who was bidding on it?

3.) Why was it taken down all of a sudden?

4.) Who would have an interest in technology like this other than IT contractors for state, local, or county officials that oversee the placement and certification of these machines?

5.) Winston tried to laugh this off as a Mission Impossible theory in which a person would need to have all the right people with all the right tools and all the right skills. Had it ever occurred to him that a person interested in this board could have those resources available to them?

You guys are clueless, yet amazing. While you should be asking yourself and others these and many other questions, you're mocking me and calling me moron. Think about that for a second. While you should be asking questions about WTF is going on right in front of you, you are mocking me to get a few laughs like you're in friggin high school hallway during lunch hour. The purpose of this thread was to share with you all what I found to prompt you yourselves to say WTF?!!! Then follow that with the question...why is there a DIEBOLD voting machine motherboard on ebay for anyone to buy and play with and who has an interest in it.

Wow, you are so warped. Not only do you come off as a patronizing and foolish @$$, you miss the entire issue, that being voting fraud and voter disenfranchisement and instead mock, mislead and label. Forget about ideology, politics, and party affiliation. THIS is about VOTING! The right to vote and the power given to the people by the concept of "one man, one vote." Failure to recognize that its being toyed with and eroded day after day because men with secret agendas outside the greater good are vying to be masters of the universe unchecked will be our nation's undoing. Take a look around. Read a paper. Ask a person outside your world if they voted and why they did or didnt?

Not once did I say anything about my ideology, political beliefs or affiliation. Voting is THE cornerstone of democracy, without it we wouldnt be who we were.

Oh good grief...

It doesn't mean we don't stand for something and fight for it... it just means that we don't stand for something and fight for it HERE! For many people... the board is a place for colleagues and friends. Once you bring politics and religion into things, it causes disagreements and distention on a very personal level.

Listening to your protestations of innocent intentions reminds of the little boy that cried “wolf”. This most recent post, albeit not as political as some of the past, still echoes with the familiar sounds of politics that run rampant in your dialogue.

I am outspoken as well, and with that comes criticism. I don't like the political agendas on the board but there are many that don't like OT posting - period. My opinion of them is that they need to lighten up. But who asked me?

Go ahead and post... but don't be surprised when you get some snide responses.

Speaking for myself, the way you have paraded your cause (or paraded it in the past) is what makes me wary of your posts. You have not simply stated an opinion... your opinions have been coupled with an underlying tone that we agree and/or participate or be labeled causeless idiots or uneducated morons.

Its the difference in saying "I'm a democrat and here's what I stand for and why" as opposed to "President Bush and his blah blah blah insult insult insult... the Republicans and their blah blah blah insult insult insult." Anytime someone comes at me the way you do with your opinions I shut off the receptors whereas otherwise I may have listened.

I actually thought the information you posted was interesting... but it seemed to be baited.

Re: "worstcal" oops I meant "bestcal"

Obiviously you are too ignorant to understand the difference. The "ot" is not the problem, a joke is meant as a joke. Political or religious intended propaganda is what the problem is.

Joke: Something said or done to evoke laughter or amusement, especially an amusing story with a punch line.

Propaganda: The systematic propagation of a doctrine or cause or of information reflecting the views and interests of those advocating such a doctrine or cause.

Ignorant: destitute of knowledge or education <an ignorant society>; also : lacking knowledge or comprehension of the thing specified <parents ignorant of modern mathematics> b : resulting from or showing lack of knowledge or intelligence

Why don't (not do'nt) you go ahead and play in "a classroom" (if you even remotely understand what I mean). Perhaps you can learn to put a space between sentences, so that the crap you write will be a little eaiser to read!

I am only laughing because what you propose is ridiculous! This is not laughing it off...It is laughing at how stupid and nebulous your scenario was. In your defense, why don't you offer up the procedure that would take place after you opened up the disk drive ? ( because that beginning premise tells me you don't know what you are talking about ). As far as believing somone has the capability and knowledge to alter the board for malicous intent, I work with that technology everyday, so I know two things that you fail to comprehend. The first is that you are not even close to the point of best attack (or even a feasible attack ), nor do you possess the knowledge to opine on such procedures. The second is that everything you offer is generic, hollywood, conspiracy theory tripe. Just once it would be enjoyable to see your discourse be substantiated with fact and terse specifics. Is it that we are "afraid of your political knowledge" as BC states ? I think not, since you have shown no more than that of a surface current events peruser. I am not mocking you, nor trying in any way to be perceived as superior... I am simply enraged by those exuding the facade of erudition with such an obtuse familiarity.
I will be anxiously awaiting your procedure... Or .... maybe you should have just left it at "That thing could be misused in the wrong hands ", and not offered the Jahari "HOW" it could be done, using 'WHAT'. BTW... Could you incorporate how you would use the WYSE Thin-client FlashROM in your upcoming laconic oration ? TIA

I can be a real man and admit that I dont know something and not fake it. I dont know everything about these boards because I am a network, desktop, and printer guy. But can you honestly say that these boards cannot be adapted and reconfigured? A chip of the same type cannot be replaced on a board? Now I see how is plays out with you.

If you get cornered, you back shuffle under the guise of showing some characteristic of a 'MAN'
( You are not even close ... don't insult not only men, but adults as well )

If someone doesn't agree with you, it is them that can't see, read, understand, etc...

If someone else actually presents specific flaws in your logic or character, it MUST be THEIR character flaw, and they deserve to be belittled and called demeaning names either directly by inference.

Put to task, you assume the defensive posture, and spew diversion or denial.

Is it possible that you are missing the real point here? You say that I missed the point because you never said you knew HOW...but... doesn't your initial statement of "It doesn't take much..." imply that you MUST possess this knowledge to make this statement ?

Is it possible that YOU should read and digest prior to responding ?

Is it possible that your words do not concur with your actions ? ( "I don't care" ...yet you respond to every post)

Isn't it really possible that you are simply arrogant and antaganistic to elicit the attention you lacked in your childhood?

I feel your pain.....
