It's called Google bombing

In this case, a couple of hundred people put the word "failure" or "miserable failure" on their website, and then linked the word to the site in question. Google's spider bot sees the word, follows the link to the site, and thinks that it must be a relevant site for the word. It's just a cheap stunt, but Google isn't going to "fix" it. Since there's no legitimate site that would claim to be hurt by being knocked lower in a search for the word, Google figures no harm, no foul.
