Online Invoicing

I would like to be able to invoice my clients via email directly from a billing software. Does anyone know of any? I've been using quickbooks for my billing but in order to email directly from quickbooks, I need to upgrade and I don't want to spend another $99. TIA

This is an off the wall suggestion...

Can you just send it as an attachment? I don't use Quickbooks, so really have no clue. I do my invoices in Word & just send as an attachment called "Invoice".

I have Quickbooks Simple Start Edition 2005, and I send invoices via e-mail from within Quickbooks. I have never paid any additional fees to upgrade.

I use Quickbooks as well. If I want to e-mail an invoice I select to print it as a pdf file (go to www.pdf995.com and download and install). I print it to the desktop, then open the file and select to e-mail it, then I delete it from my desktop. A bit convoluted maybe, but it is the only way I knew of to e-mail a Quickbook's invoice without upgrading and spending that $99

The Simple Start Edition has the option in the invoice screen to "Print" or "E-Mail", when selecting E-Mail it sends it from within Quickbooks, not from my mailbox. This program was $79.00 to purchase, and I have never had to upgrade.

:banging head against wall:

Thanks Brenda,
I just went to Quickbooks and e-mailed one of the invoices to myself!
KS_King, when you want to e-mail your invoice, click on the Send option and a box comes up asking if you want to send it by e-mail or Mail through Quickbooks, just select the e-mail option. I am using Quickbooks Pro 2005.

FedEx or mail instead

Email + fax don't create a good enough paper trail if you need to take them to court later.

I FedEx or fax 1st invoice. Reminders are mailed w/ ret receipt.

Re: FedEx or mail instead

Never been to court, but just curious...why would you need that much of a paper trail? I would think the confirm would be proof that you entered into a contract, the fact that you haven't received the check would be obvious, and how many times you invoiced the company would be irrelevant. They owed you the money as soon as you completed the job.

Paper trail

I always win in court.

Paper trails are everything to judges.

Re: Paper trail - Jason is correct about paper trail.

Organize it. Make a copy for the judge and a copy for the defendant. Identical copies to hand out at hearing.

Index it with tabs.

Slap a sheet at the beginning which has a list like:

# Item
1) Confirmation of appointment by Defendant to Plaintiff
2) Whatever you faxed back at completion Plaintiff to Defendant
3) Invoice faxed from Plaintiff to Defendant on 00-00-0000
4) Emailed correspondence inquiring about payment on 00-00-0000
5) 2nd Invoice faxed from Plaintiff to Defendant on 01-01-0000 (30 days)

and so forth.

Yes, it is a PITA. However, you will win if you have a perfect, comprehensive paper trail.

You must have some type of certified mail or fedex in the list of paper.

All they need to refute all that is a cancelled check. They won't have it.

The fact that it is a pita is the reason they don't care if they pay you.
