Problems with Direcway (Hughesnet) DW6000

One of the problems of living in the boonies is that we are limited on what high speed internet provider we choose. The only DSL provider in my area is Direcway. I have used them for the last 2 years. In the past 3 months I have had continual trouble with this service. Slow downloads, web surfing, etc. I have spoken to their tech support so much I think I know them each on a first name basis even though I can not pronounce any of their names. Has anyone else been using Direcway and if so have you had the same trouble as me. I am thinking of going to a laptop with a wireless card. Any suggestions.

I've got the DW7000

It's supposed to be better... but it has it's moments too.

See if an upgrade will help. Their tech support is horrid, but sometimes they do solve things. Sometimes.

I mean gee for the low low price of $103 / month you expect speed AND reliability ?????

Re: I've got the DW7000

We have the 7000 also, running 2 computers through it (yes, we had to take the additonal higher priced plan for that privilege) and we do have slowdowns and problems. My husband also spent a lot of time on the telephone with customer service and they claim nothing's wrong (it's the price we pay for living in the country). Now when I have connectivity problems or slowdowns, the first thing I do is look out the window - if there's a cloud in the sky then I know what's wrong - and wait a minute - this too shall pass!!...Smile
