Searched, but can't find answer...
Had bwr tonight for signing of title docs only (this is 3rd time notary has come out for this loan). Different spin on the name on ID not same as docs... Docs in maiden name. Bwr signed 2x already & thought she was done. Got NEW LICENSE this morning in new married name. DMV collected her previous license when new one got issued. Today, she mailed her passport for new name & mailed her marriage certificate copy away as well.
All secondary forms of ID are in maiden name. Used current vehicle registration (in CT, this contains operator lic # and signature) to "tie" maiden name to married name (operator's lic # was a match between vehicle reg & DL).
I completed notary block as Jane S Doe aka Jane S Smith. Just double-checking that I did this correctly. I don't get these too often (luckily) I did put a big note on top of docs that ID just changed TODAY.

ID brain fart
Let me rephrase, as I think I confused myself (not difficult to do at nearly 1am).
Jane S Doe (maiden) Jane S Smith (married)
Completed notary certificate as Jane S Smith aka Jane S Doe

Re: ID brain fart would love to help Melissa
But I can't. It sounds to me like a redraw at best.
I would never fill out an acknowledgment as "AKA", that's all I can offer.

Re: ID brain fart
If she no longer had Jane Doe ID, how can you justify using the AKA? It sounds to me like all you had to go on was her word and I can't imagine THAT is a legal way to identify anybody in any state.
Sometimes the only option we have is to refuse to notarize. That it's going to be a major inconveniece for everyone involved in the loan is unfortunate, but that's not our problem.

Re: ID brain fart
New DL had new name. Current vehicle registration contains maiden name. Registration is issued by state gov't, contains signature & social security number & DL number. DL number on new ID and current registration was the same, not to mention the SSN in teh docs & on the vehicle reg was the same.
CT ID requirements are not as strict as CA. Vehicle registration supported recent name change claim. and secondary ID was mor than sufficient to prove that this person with a brand new ID was the exact same person as maiden name.
