Re: Signing ink color --- yes I did
but for me was the reverse, I let them sign in blue but, I should let them sign in black. I call the signing service and they said it was ok!

Happened to me once, I always bring my own black pens, but this man had his own blue pen that I didn't notice until he signed 3 pages. We used 'his' copies to make the correction.

Good Morning Liz,
Whenever I have an assignment, I always confirm ink color beforehand.

year ago, I was so mad at myself. I'm generally right on top of things.......the signing was blue ink of course and I began my notarization with black ink, the second it happen.....I was saying "oh sh??" I was so made at myself......the loan did go through. That has never and I mean never happened again.

I almost always am told what color to use. If they don't specify either blue or black I use black.

f they don't specify either blue or black I use black...My
default colour is always blue unless otherwise instructed. I find that blue is a colour which does not copy as blue but as black, therefore you can always tell the copies from the originals. The only company that I do business with, which specifies black is Countrywide. Everyone else either specifies blue or it doesn't matter. If it's the latter, then I use blue
"Blue....blue....my ink is blue.......blue is my ink......in Kalamazoooooo.... black....black....I don't use black.....by not using black.....I don't have to go back!!!!"
"We're all looking for Blue's Clues...We're all looking for Blue's Clues....We're all looking for Blue's Clues....because we're really SMART!"
She wore Blueeeeee VEL vet.....bluer than velvet were her eyes....
Don't you...steal all my blue ink pens....you can take what you want....but lay offa my blue ink pens...blue blue...blue ink pens....(thankyouthankyouverymuch)
"Ladies and gentlemen....."DOC" has left the building.........thank you and good night!

Is this *my* delusion? Or yours????
I was about to nap a bit, but before I do so...about blue vs black ink. I learned from Chicago Boob, I mean Bob.

I usually mark a blue x to indicatie where they are to sign. That covers me in those cases where half way through the loan pkg or buried in the middle of am instruction page regarding HUD preparation (I have even found instructions as to ink color at the very end of a pkg) you find instuctions requiring a speceific ink color. The blue x enables them to differentiate between original and copy.

I have alwys been told that black is the "default" color unless specified by the company. So far I have not had anyone angry with me over using black ink. Personally Doc.....blue is my favorite ink color also but on docs I use black when no instuctions are given. So what does everyone else do in a case where there is no instructions on what ink color to use........blue or black.

Re: Doc, et al...here's how they do ink color in Chicago...
Black has always been my default color. I used to be an Escrow Officer in Sonoma County, Calif and one of the County Recorders during that time stated that she could decline any document for recording if not signed in black ink. The title companies at that time had us can our blue pens, supplied only black pens and required all documents be signed in black only. That was some time ago but because of that I tend to go with black unless instructed otherwise.

Reee-diculous!
Obviously we have to comply with whatever has to be complied with, but the whole argument is stupid in the modern world.
With today's digital copies/scanners/printers all but the lightest blue copies just fine so there's no reason to require black... and blue ink can be photocopied perfectly blue, so using blue doesn't prove an original, no need to require blue. The only way you could really prove an original in today's world would be to require an embosser... but those are nearly prohibited.
It does provide some county clerks an opportunity to exercise their authority... that's about all it does.

Re: Reee-diculous!
I agree. I have heard people say "...well blue doesn't scan as welll..." With todays modern and sophisticated business equipment, black scans, blue scans, black copies, blue copies. As long as it is not green, or red, or purple, etc.
I did a closing yesterday. H&R block was the lender and Closing USA was the title company. Closing USA's instructions said use black. H&R block instructions said use blue. I used blue. Any thoughts?

I would use blue, but I also like to double check with the company.

I would normally check also. But the closing was at 5:00 yesterday (Saturday).

I know what you mean
Sometimes you don't have an option to ask. I personally would have used blue because that was what the lender stated they wanted. JMO

Re: Black seems to be default color in socal
Want to thank all of you for your imput. Friday and Saturday, were 2 horro signing days. The jest of it all is late docs, unprintable docs, and trying to squeeze everything in for really nice people who had really bad communciation from their lender. Seems EVERYONE was told something different than the docs came thru. ( e.g. higher interest and/or adjustable rate vs. fixed rates). Anyway, the way I always do is carry plenty of both colors for eveyone. When in such a hurry as Friday, I even put a pen of the correct color in my packets to REMIND ME which to use, even though I still usually read my instructions IF TIME permits at the signing. HOWEVER, this closing took place at 11:30-12 pm time frame, Everything had to be signed and notorized before midnight, of they would loose the loan. It was scheduled for 9 pm but as docs could not be printed in time ( Why??? Not my printers fault, I had plenty of docs before and after that came thru like champs! ) Someone told me it was the way they had been scanned and sent to me. Me not be a computer guru, much less a printer guru ( these are really difficult to find...just ask my checkbook for the price I had to pay to get a really good printer that does the job, and even then the "guru" took 3 to get it to do the work and an extra memory stick) ANYWAY that's another story, just wondered what your thoughts & expierences were (as in good luck trying to get any help from the signing company!) THANKS AGAIN TO ONE AND ALL.!! iT IS SO GOOD TO KNOW THERE ARE "OTHERS" OUT THERE !

Please don't think that all States have the same Notary Public Laws. You just got your Notary Commission last month - Please read Michigan's Notary Public Laws. I really don't want you to get confused with what others are saying.
