Sllllowwww printing docs: Please help, computer people.
Every so often I get docs that print up so slow I'm pulling my hair out ! They come up as pdf on adobe. I end up having to print them 5 pages at a time. Is there anything I can do to make this go faster? Do I need to download some type of reader? This doesn't happen often, but when it does it's Always one thats running late anyway! Can anyone help before I go Bald!

Hey Christi, If it is the same problem that I have had in the past, there is not much you can do. sometimes the lender scans to pdf but the docs are a large file size. Check the file size.

What kind of printer you have? The only remedies to this (slow print) problems are to add more memory to your printer, use PCl5e driver, and adjust your print setting to the lowest resolution available.
Lastly, save your hairs by invest in the right printer for this job/business.

I used to have the same issue once in a while, and always when I was running against the clock. I now have a little ritual I perform *before* docs are set to arrive in .pdf format via email: I shut down my computer and UNPLUG the power cord to my printer. Be sure to wait 3 minutes or so, then reboot your computer and plug in your printer. I was told that the printer memory needed to be reset once in a while to accommodate large spooled files (have no idea what that means... just repeating what some techie told me) and this seems to have solved my problem. Hope it helps!

You did not mention what kind of printer but
Go into control panel, choose printers, right click and choose properties, choose advanced and then check the boxes "spool print documents so program finishes faster" and "start printing immediately". This will use the computers memory and hard drive to feed the documents to the printer only as fast as it can take it removing the workload from the printer memory. My brother 5140 printers only have 16mb of memory and I never have an issue even when the PDF documents are scanned in as images. They will print the 21 pages per minute.

Thanks all, I'll try all
ands it's a brother mcf 8220. Usually works quite well. I kept the downloaded docs, as well as some from about a month ago with the same problem. That way I can tell if something works. Also thanks Cyndi and Jahari for calling, I may not agree with Jahari's politics, but he was Very nice and helpful on the phone! I'l be working on it over the weekend, cause business is finally picking up... Yeah Glenn can I email you? my advanced properties box reads differently.

Also, printing PDF's.. there is a little box on your printing options (it may be in advanced) that says "print as image". Make sure that ISN"T checked. That will slow down your printing a bit.
