Starbucks was in order tonight!
What a crazy day, (not that I'm ungrateful). I'm sure this is nothing new to the seasoned notaries, but since I do this part time it was unusual for me. I had a 5:00 scheduled for today (it was set up yesterday) and then 2 other companies called me signings. That was 3 for today. I never get three for one day. The first BOs were late for their appt, the SS on the 2nd didn't get me their paperwork in time so I had to go home (not unusual I know), and then the 2nd didn't sign because all kinds of things were wrong on the HUD and it they were expecting a fixed but no, it was adjustable. LOL, the third one went off without a hitch and he was really nice. Whew! I stopped at starbucks on the way home. I don't know how you guys do it like this everyday! Kudos to you!

Last night I had 2. One at 7 and the other 8:30. 7 p.m. was a buy and sell. The buyer and seller were friends and were visiting while I was trying to get the docs signed and get out of there. The 8:30 was suppose to be 45 minutes away from my home, but the SS suggested I ask Ms. Borrower to meet me near her place of employment which was only 15 minutes away from my home. (That's why I like this particular SS)
All worked out and I met Ms. Borrower at Starbucks, she signed, she purchased a Grande for the road and I purchased 2 Grandes, one with room for cream the other hot and black and I cruised on home to my waiting hubby and in his arms in 15 minutes.
YUCK! Mushy ending!!!
Real ending is that he was waiting for his Starbucks timing me. lol

Re: LOL
Starbucks can do that to a person, I knew my man would be asleep so I didn't ask. He gets up real early, plus he doesn't understand my fascination with starbucks. Mmm mmm good, wait that's Cambell's.

Starbucks and the joint down the street.
You gotta cut me a little slack... I'm from Santa Cruz CA, Hippy City USA. Years back there was a bumper sticker flyin' around "Friends don't let friends drink at Starbucks" Really.
I'll not go that far, and in fact I enjoy Starbucks myself now and then... but give me 5 seconds to pitch the joint down the street. The local espresso shop. David struggling against Goliath.
I do Broker's Price Opinions (house valuations for lenders) so I find myself often needing internet access on the road. In every town I frequent I have a local Java shop that offers free internet to compete against The Chain.
I went for the internet, but I've found a better product cheaper with friendlier service. Every time. I can't think of an exception. The Ugly Mug, Hiway 9 Java, Java Express, Firehouse Coffee, The Cherry Bean.
Check 'em out, you'll be pleasantly surprised... and at those joints your $5 matters.
FWIW

Re: Starbucks and the joint down the street.
LOL, what's funny about that is I saw a place on my way to appt (name escapes me at the moment), but I thought to myself, hmm, if there's no Starbucks, I'll be going there, but there was one on the way. The guy gave me too much change back and tried to convince me I gave him a $20, I said are you sure and he double checked, it was hilarious, I was right I gave him a $10, then he couldn't figure out why there was an extra dollar, even after I told him it was a TIP. I'll give the local chain a try next time out. Maybe I'll get someone who can count.

The joint down the street - ALWAYS
Gary, I love the synopsis of your brain cells ... I, too, always honor the Mom/Pop Shops.
Many years ago, before Starbuck's hit MI, I received a bag of their beans as a gift. "Ah .. finally I get to taste this treasure" I thought (being a coffee-snob). Ground it, brewed it, tasted it with an anticipation not unlike a child on Christmas morning ... EWWWW! Thought it was the worst thing I'd ever drank, and assumed I'd just received a 'bad' bag. Pitched it.
There was nothing wrong with the bag, I now know. They just have horrid coffee AND one heck of a marketing team - and enough whipped cream and corn syrup flavorings to make ANYTHING drinkable. I am humble enough to admit, though - I am addicted to their caramel syrup (which they sell, and I buy like a religion because it's cheaper there than anywhere else).

If you ever travel to the northern part of MI (Gaylord to be more specific) check out my favorite coffee shop..........Brothers Coffee. Best place in town and right on main street. And they have the whole internet thing going too.
