Subject line resolution

For the month of August I resolve to not read posts with subject lines such as "What would you do", "Does anyone know about", etc. Subject lines should indicate what the post is about so that readers can decide whether to read them or not. In the future I will translate all subject lines that don't actually indicate the subject to "This post is only for readers who read every single post."

Larry =no message g/b/u (have no idea) LOL=laugh out loud

Hello Larry,
when you see n/m in the subject line, it's alerting you that you don't need to click on the link because there is no message.
Don't know what g/b/u means, I'll ask the kids when they get home.
LOL means laugh out loud, but I guess lots of luck could apply in many of the laugh out loud situations as well.... ;-) FYI: that's a smile and a wink.

Have a great day!

Re: The OT before the subject will give you a clue!

I appreciate the contributors who take the trouble to put OT in their subject lines of off topic posts.

"What do you Think" msg # 136296 was about backdating. "What would you have done" msg # 136274was about late docs, late appointments, frustration. And, "What do you know about" msg # 136513 was requesting information on a secific company. None of these warranted O/T as they were not off-topic issues.

I agree Brenda/CA

I felt he was directing his msg to my previous OT post. So who cares if he, as he states, "For the month of August I resolve to not read posts with subject lines such as..blah..blah blah"...

Re: I think what he was trying to say is...

to be more specific in the Subject line.

Example:
"What do you Think" msg # 136296 was about backdating.
Rather than "What do you Think" in subject, "Backdating issue" would be more descriptive.

"msg # 136274was about late docs"
Subject line might read "Late docs frustration"

"What do you know about" msg # 136513 "
Subject line might read "Need info on (name of company)"

IMO it would alert the reader to the REAL subject matter, and the reader can choose whether to click on it or not, rather than having to click on it just to find out what the readl subject is.

Re: I think what he was trying to say is...

BarbaraL_CA understood what I was getting at. And as far as I'm concerned, OT really is enough information; if I feel like reading somthing off topic, I'll go ahead and click, or if I'm not in the mood, I won't. As far as who would care what I say, if you don't want me, and anyone else with my reading habits, to read your post, go ahead and provide a subject with no real information. If I'm the only one with my reading habits, then it probably doesn't matter.
