W9

In the loan package I received the W9 has the borrower's and the co-borrower's name preprinted and there's only one line for a signature, should I have them both sign on the same line? and also the borrower's social security number is preprinted but not the co-borrower's is it necessary to have both?

You should have a seperate W-9 for each borrower.

In my novice days, I just had both borrowors sign next to each other, since it was joint. never heard anything, but it is not the right thing to do ... I now carry blank w9's with me and in the event one is missing, I will have the other BO print their name and ss and sign it. I give the person who hired me a heads up first, and it's always been ok.
