What a waste of time!! ............

I made arrangements last night to meet someone this morning at 5:00 AM to notarize some documents (obviously not to walk their dog). I agreed to the early morning appointment because she insisted that it was an urgent matter and that she needed to hop a plane to Florida at 8:00 A.M. I figured, “why not?”

Anyways, I travel to her home in Leominster (about a twenty minute drive if I use the highway) and I discover that she isn’t there!!!! I woke up early this morning for nothing!!! Angry I met her husband who explained to me that she decided to leave early for the airport because of the amount of time it takes to get through Logan Airport security. WHAT THE HECK!!

Luckily he was nice enough to pay my fee even though I didn’t notarize anything. I didn’t even ask for it. I guess he felt bad and decided to pay me. Being a nice guy (LOL) I cut my fee in half because I felt like I was robbing him. I didn’t do anything except travel (and wake up early). What a waste of time!! Angry

How rude to set up an appointment for such an ungodly hour and then not have the decency to call to cancel. I'm not an early riser so I'd be especially angry.

I'd be upset too - sounds like they had a fight - are you sure she's not in the freezer in the garage or something??..<G>...maybe we don't want to know..

LOL ....

I had that thought for like two seconds at the beginning. Then I realized that it was highly unlikely! LOL

Similar to mine

Yesterday I signed these borrowers, second time in a year for me to be there.
Then he says 5 minutes in to the signing, "I have to leave and go pick up the kids at the bus stop." I forgot he did that the last time, too. Why they don't make the appointment until after the bus stop time is beyond me.

Then the signing company calls to make sure I made it. This is 10 minutes after the start of the signing. He wants to talk to me, O.K. He then wants to know if I'm nearly done. "Not hardly". "Why, you haveing problems". "No, but Mr. went to pick up kids at the bus stop, and there are over a hundred pages in this loan". "When will you be finished?" Loved that question. "I don't have a clue at this rate." Shut him up, "I'll call back later."

Wife at table, husband finally joins us....start signing, half way thru pkg - ring a ling a ling! Wife goes into bedroom closes door to answer phone.
dum de dum.....
10 minutes later she emerges, complaining to hubby that the Navy keeps trying to recruit their HS kid....they talk....
dum de dum.....Uh, I have an appt in about 15 minutes that will take a half hour to get to folks...Can we sign????

Re: Similar to mine - - ->Charm...

For the sake of discussion...

Had they kept on talking, what would you have done if they would have been about to critically wreck your schedule?

I am trying to think what I would have said...probably, "I am sorry but I will have to leave within xx minutes, can you check with your wife to see if we will be able to finish this appointment?"

I have been in situations where bwrs were so passive-aggressive they purposely extended these types of interruptions. I feel it's almost rude in any situation to take phone calls and begin to have a long conversation (not say "let me get back with you" so that you can get back to present company).
