Woo Hoo I got my Dell 1710N to work!

Thank you Andy and Pam for your help. It took a week, and I am not sure exactly what I did right, but I printed in SwiftView and it correctly selected the right paper.
It was fa u lous!

Re: MY PAPER ALWAYS SEEMS TO JAM

I had that problem also. I found that if I deselected the Print by PDF size box, i could designate to print one or the other. So I would choose to print legal.
But last night when I was printing in swift view, it automatically select the correct size.
I don't know if that is any help, but I have been trying to get mine to work for a week. I have deleted and reloaded the printer several times.
Though I am concerned that this time it loaded as a PS3, instead of a PCL6!

I am so glad you hung in there and didn't give up on your printer. If it is anything like the 1700 you will think it was worth the effort because for the price - in my humble opinion - it is smoking. I just don't have an hp budget.
