e-faxing fax recommendation
Shopping for a Fax so that I can do E-fax. What specs do I need to look for and/or what make/model do you recommend. I do not want an all in one though. Had one before and when the scanner broke I couldn't even use it to print anymore and it was going to cost more to fix that replace.
thx Karen

Brother MFC 8220. I bought it primarily because it has a multifeed feature that is fast. No Scanning doc's into your computer for faxing one by one. The doc's go into a program called paper port in seconds to minutes depending on how many you are doing. From there I can email fax directly thru outlook or convert to another format. I use myfax.com and it has never cost me more than $10 a month.
There have been discussions on some jamming problems with this model lately. In my case, I have printed over 12000 copies and am trying different things. Will keep you posted on that on NOT ROT. I am not giving up on this model yet. I like it to much!

Check out the Canon Faxphone L170. I had been using my HP 7410 All in one but it was way too slow and needed too much babysitting. I've had the Canon for about 6 months and it has taken much of the frustration out of fax-backs. It has a 50 sheet document feeder and scans to memory (very quickly) then sends. I also set it to print a confirmation which includes a thumbnail of the 1st page as well as the page count. Then if/when there are questions I have proof. This fax will also serve as a backup printer. I still have to separate out the pages but the actual sending is no longer a PITA.
I also always ask and I do charge extra for fax-backs. It's not just the cost of sending them but also the extra time and travel as I'm not able to drop the docs on my way home.
And no, I don't work for Canon.
For efax I use MaxEmail. You don't need a fax machine to receive only to send and even then you can use a scanner. I don't because I've found it too slow.
