need some feedback
Almost 2 weeks ago I got a call from a SS whom I haven't worked for before to do a last minute signing. Then it got cancelled. Then the next day, I was called again by the same SS to do that same job, it was on again - within the next 12 hours the signing was on-again/off-again about 5 or 6 times. During this time I spoke with the borrower and the LO confirming appointments and waiting for docs..... finally, the borrower calls me and says we're doing it next week. They are redrawing the docs...ect. We had established a relationship by this point. Nex week comes along and the LO calls me, reminds me who he is and wants to know if I would still do that signing. He sends the docs and I confirm with borrower. I get home between signings to print-out the docs and I was prompted to a web-site to retrieve docs. Had problems with this and docs wouldn't print correctly. I call 800# for website and get voicemail, so I leave msg. Then call borrower and tell her, then call LO and leave him vm on his cell phone. Meantime, I successfully printed the docs. Now I'm on my way to borrowers and the SS guy calls and says "oh, so your going to that signing. LO called me and said you were having trouble printing docs" I said that I got them printed and on my way. He says "make sure you call me with the tracking #." It was a late signing, so went to bed and got up next morning and went to yoga. After working out I see that the SS has called me about 6 time on cell and home #(which I never use). He really wanted to make sure he got a piece of this pie. My thought was that he had no idea I was going to this signing or even knew that they were going to sign - until the LO brought him back into the picture, thinking they could help me print docs. I did call the LO on my way to yoga to give him the status of the signing - that was my instruction from him. So I said "who am I billing my fee to?" he says, " well, we're the ones paying the fee, its up to you". After a couple hours of thought on it, I just e-mailed the SS with the tracking #. What would you have done?

I would've called the SS at some ungodly hour and give them the tracking #. If no answer, leave v/m. Also would have emailed SS with tracking number.

You did right. However tempting it is to cut out the middleman, I think we need to remember they're the one who called us for the job in the first place. Karma. Now, if that same LO calls you direct for another signing, go for it!

I would have to agree BUT it would have been ooo so tempting to leave the ss out of the loop.

You bill the signing service, why would you even question this? They did their part by finding you to do the job, it's not their fault that the loan kept getting delayed.
That you'd consider otherwise tells me that you need to take a long hard look at your own ethics, not to mention business sense.
Cutting them out of the picture at this point guarantees you'll never get work from them in the future. Successfully completing a difficult signing means they're gonna remember you as someone who went that extra mile for them. Which one is likely to put more cash in your pocket in the long run? Getting an extra $50 or $60 from this one signing by billing the TC directly or nurturing what could be the beginning of a stream of steady business with the SS?

Why I would question it is because I haven't learned who ALL the late or non-paying signing services are. And I am finding out real quick that there are a LOT of late paying ones and maybe even NON paying ones - will wait 3 months I guess before pursuing those. And that I would even consider it, is because it was an option and I always consider all of my options. And yes, I looked at the big picture and came to my decision based on the same reasoning that you pointed out.

Yep, there are a bunch of bad signing services out there. But nothing in your post implied that you were concerned about this being one of those situations, so I'm not sure how it's relevant here.
I'm sure you've figured out by now that every time a SS you're unfamiliar with calls you, you should do a search on this board with their name. When I do that I consider no news to be good news and i'll accept the signing. It's not foolproof, but it's worked well for me so far. If you see numerous threads on a company saying the same bad things over and over again, there's a reason for it. Those are the ones to give back.

Well, it was tempting to send invoice with docs because I am waiting long periods of time to get paid by middleman. This was a concern, although not originally stated. So no news is good news I guess. I did a search on this new ss, but came up with notta.

Re: Cali
In addition, I usually will search here & make a post requesting info if nothing is found in initial search. Then, I will go back & post my experience with said company to help the next person working with them that tries to search here.

Also, some advice on accessibility
My cell starts ringing at 8:00am (mostly from TC's back east). I would try to find a gym that offers yoga classes at 7:00a.m. The gym is the only place I go where I cannot take my cell.

I would of let the signing company know right from the start
that the LO called me to reschedule the appointment. They are your client on this job.
