number of signings

Just curious. What is your average number of signings for a week?

I have been averaging about 13.... How do you manage when they are all scheduled around the same time?

When the market was great, and I still had a full time day job, I did about 6 a week. By the end of the day tomorrow I will have done 14 closings and 11 title abstracts, and one recording in a county that is just way to far away.

I am in central ca. I do not accept low fees. I believe being spanish speaking is a great help.

I don't accept anything under $100. My fees vary from $100 to $275.00 depending on the county. I do cover almost 20 counties, and I have TC's willing to pay me to drive all the way to Greensboro rather than hire a notary that is local there. I have one company that actually pays me quite a bit to go all the way to Charlotte for closings. One TC in particular I worked with at my old law firm, we did the entire closing for them when attorney's were still required to do all closings in this state, and we covered the entire state mostly doing mailaways. They've known me for 5 years and trust me, so they call on me for most of their closings in the area.

I was also an Escrow Officer in CA, so my experience gets me a lot of business too. There are several CA companies that call me because of that. I also get business from a couple TC's that I worked for in CA, and a few attorney's in this area that know me and won't travel for closings. The attorney's in this state that still get any refi business are realizing that they either need to travel or hire NSA's to be competitive. So I did a mailing to local attorney's about 3 months ago.

For NCLisa

You don't have to be an attorney to do signings in NC now?

Re: For NCLisa

No, you don't. For a purchase an attorney must be available to the borrowers during the closing, but for refi's, no attorney necessary.

No only a NC licensed attorney is permitted to certify title in NC. So any title search done must be reviewed by an NC attorney before any TC can issue a title committment/prelim.

Depends on who calls. If I did $40 or $50 dollar signings, (which I don't) then I could be doing 3 a day. I average 3 signings a week from my good paying clients, plus the regular notary work, plus the fixes from the ones that take the $40 and $50 ones, and then inspections. I stay busy enough.

I never care about the number of signings. I am more interesed in the end result. I maybe do 1-2 a day on average but they are all 150 and up. I use to do 4-6 closing a day back in the refi boom days but this almost killed me. My overhead was out of control, (gas, ink, etc). I also got physically and mentally burned out very quickly. Those were mostly signing services at 50-75 a pop. Today I work way less but make way more money.
