printer ram

How can you tell what your printer's ram is? Thanks in advance for advice.

From the link below, select your printer and model. It will tell you which ram to buy.

Thanks, Andy. Two more printer questions.

Thank you for the link. It looks great! Unfortunately, it doesn't tell how to determine how much memory is already in the printer. Is there a way to find out?

Second, my HP 3015 keeps getting reset to letter-size paper as the default every time I reboot my Windows XP-based PC. How can I permanently set the default to legal-size?

Thanks for all the help you give us!

Two more printer questions...Ernest

1. The manufacture specifications will tell you how much memory was installed as standard and the max you can upgrade to. HP3015 came with 32MB standard and is not upgradable.

2. Try go through the printer (not on pc) control panel itself and check for the 2nd tray option. The print preference you set from your pc could just be a software force where setting physically on the printer will make it independent to know which tray to select.

I'm not a big fan of AIO so the answer to #2 is based on my experience dealing with HP printers.

Thanks!

1. Grumble, grumble. I want to add memory! grumble, grumble.

2. There is no second tray option. I keep resetting the "Common Settings" "Def. paper size" to "Legal" but something (I assume it's my PC) keeps forcing it back to Letter.

No idea who/what AIO is.

Thanks!

Re: Thanks, Andy. Two more printer questions.

Select "Printers and Faxes" from Start tab...right click on printer and select "Properties"... click on "Device Settings" and change "Print Auto Select" to "Legal" and change Tray1 to "Legal". This should have your printer always default to "Legal" paper.

If you're wanting to know what it is now, choose your "Printer and Faxes" from the "Start" tab, right click on the printer in question and click on "Properties", select the "Device Setting" tab, and it will show you what your printer memory is under "Installable Options".

Earnest,
Not sure if this would apply, but it might. I had to order a CD from HP that was for device configuration for my particular printer. Try going into programs and seeing if your printer is listed there. If your printer came with a disc, it might be on there, but not installed. In this device configuration program you set up your second tray to be the default legal sized tray and it stays that way unless you change the settings.

Thanks, Lisa, but ...

... the 3015 has only one tray.

Re: Ooops!!

In that case, I give the floor to the more experienced on this printer. I'll shut up now, and go bury my head. Just kidding Smile
