printing pdf files

What is it with some of these pdf files lately? They take forever to spool. Took me over one hour once to print one set of docs. I check the print as image button on the advanced tab and it still takes forever. What else can I do?

Under advanced settings... lower your dpi as low as it will go. No noticeable difference in print quality, but goes faster & uses less toner.

Besides lowering your resolution to it's lowest setting possible, as Lee already mentioned, change your PCL driver to PCL5e (assuming you are using the PCL6 driver and the 5e version is available). If you have an HP printer, the PCL5e driver can be easily installed following the installation program that comes on the installation CD.

After installing the printer with the PCL5e driver, set the resolution to the lowest setting (300 or 600 dpi), do not use "Economode" as it will make the text too light to read, in some cases. Be sure the "Print as image" is selected (you already know that).

Also, check how much "Virtual Memory" you have. This is a Windows setting that is set differently with each different operating system (e.g., Windows 95, 98, 2000 or XP).

Memory upgrading is due! Max out your memory and you'll find that your printing speeds increase by leaps and bounds. If you have Windows XP and a HP, you'll find that most of your stock memory is being used as an interface to run the printer as it spools utilizing this HUGE program. Maxing out memory will fix this.
