what do you think?
Has anyone heard of Swift Serve (contact- Adam). I'm doing a signing tonight. He has called me several times about the docs (verbage, misc.). I've told him during conversations today that I need a confirmation. He keeps putting that off. The last time I talked to him I say "I really need a confirmation so I can call the borrowers to confirm time - None of that was included with edocs. Then I say that I notice the "notary fees" on Settlement Statement was $100 and I am getting paid $90." He says, "well, I'll see what I can do" I say "well, $90 is fine, but I don't see how youre making money." he says, "yeah were only making $10". I say "well, I really need a confirmation with the fee and all for my records" he says "ok, well I can't get to that right now, I'll probably do it later on tonight". I don't feel good about this one. Anyone got thoughts?

Take control - tell him you don't leave your office without the confirmation - period.

What are you thinking?
WITH a confirmation you got a snowball's chance of getting paid. No, I don't know anything about the company, don't need to. Do the math.
On top of that add a determined resistance to give you a confirmation...
"I don't make appointments without a confirmation, and of course I'll need about an hour to print your docs, so please get it to me as soon as you can. I'd hate to see the borrowers miss their signing."

Walk, run, moonwalk away if you have to and don't look back or deal with these people again. Sounds like they are wishy washy on the paperwork. If they're wishy washy on the paperwork, they're going to be wishy washy on payment.

I agree..........why take the risk? If he isn't willing to work with you why should you be willing to work for him?

No CO, no GO!
And, I would never print docs without a CO or confirming the appt. with the borrowers. JMO

Re: No CO, no GO!
I require a confirmation on all signings. I also require that the confirmation arrive within 15 minutes after I receive the call. Otherwise, I will not hold the appointment time.

15 minutes... that's totally unreasonable...
poor scheduler, that only gives 'em time to call like 5 more notaries to find a lowballer. They need at least an hour to go through the whole list.

I tell them I need a confirmation letter before I contact the borrowers, or print the docs, let alone leave my house.

this is what i did
There was an e-mail with the HUD docs that said "this is a very important loan for us, if you have any issues please give us a call". So, I called with the issue. This l/o said he wasn't aware that the other guy subbed this out, but he would give him a call and see whats up and call me back. He called back and assured that everything sounds like its on the up-and-up and wondered if I would be interested in working directly with them in the future and got all my info. So, I did the signing, even though....well, u guys. If i don't get paid, you told me so.
