Adobe 8 help
When I go to install this it says the following message: The paging file is too small for this operation to complete, if I then press okay to get rid of the box the whole thing goes away. I now have the setup located on my desk top and when I go to click on that it says preparing to install, then it gives me that same message. Can anyone help me with this I don't understand and never had this problem when I installed 6.0.

Paging file
The paging file is a reserved section of your hard drive that is used as "virtual memory" - when your system doesn't have enough available memory, it "swaps" part of what is in memory to the hard drive to free up available memory. In this case, the message is telling you that it can't do that swap because there's not enough room in the reserved area.
You can either expand the size of the paging file (which is easy to do, but not recommended if you're not comfortable with messing around with your system's configuration), or shut down all other programs, including anything running in the system tray you don't absolutely need. That should free up enough available memory for you to complete what you're trying to do.
Hope this helps.

Re: Paging file...Thanks, Mike
For contributing to my edjamacation. Why can't they just say "Not enough memory. Shut down all unnecessary programs & try again". Huh? Aaaarrrrggghhhh! Paging file too small--bah, humbug. OK... rant over.

Re: Paging file...Thanks, Mike
Thanks Mike, I got it done but it doesn't seem any faster to me then before. Maybe when I get a different pkg to download it will. But thanks again....

Re: Paging file...Thanks, Mike
When you reboot your system, Adobe loads a program in the background that enables it to start faster and load PDFs quicker. Of course, that's just one more thing that is running in the background and chewing up more memory - but 8 is definitely faster at loading and printing.

Memory
Memory and Paging file are similar but different. One is RAM(memory chips) one is virtual(the paging file).
Be sure to empty your temporary internet files.
Make sure your hard drive is not full.
