An idea to supplement your notary business.
how about adding a courier service to your notary signing business as a way to supplement your income. Just an idea.

Here is an example of what ProNotary means
Lets say, you advertise courier service to local physicians, funeral homes and nursing homes...
Funeral home staff travel extensively to get Death Certs signed, and filing them with the the Dept of Health and Mental Hygiene.
Also, Physicians use couriers for the same....paperwork from the hospital/paperwork to the hospital
Nursing homes as well...Death Certs from the Nursing home, to the Physician, to the Funeral home.
I charge a $10.00 pick-up fee and $2.50 per mile. I discount my "frequent fliers". I'm not making big money, but it does generate a few x-tra spending $$.

I wonder that type insurance/bonding would be required, the
same as what we already have. Also, wonder how to go about getting business, like we do to sign up online with SS.

Re: Mystery Shopper: Beware of scams
Some alledged "Mystery Shopper" advertisements are just ways to get the unwary to sign up for credit cards and other offers. The REAL mystery shopper opportunities are few and far between.

Courier service? If we advertised as such, ...
First, our vehicle insurance would skyrocket. We'd be driving commercial vehicles instead of passenger cars.
Second, we'd have to be bonded (at least!) and / or have some kind of insurance for the stuff we'd carry.
Third, wouldn't we be competing with long-established services? Maybe not, if we'd service only our own local area, say within a 10-20 mile radius. But beyond that distance, would we be competing with UPS, FedEx, DHL, et cetera? Heck, even the USPS!
Fourth, many taxi companies (at least in CT) offer the equivalent of package service. Driver turns on the meter, picks up a package / envelope instead of a person, then delivers it. (Usually no tip.)
Have you checked into delivering delayed luggage for airlines? I've had bags delivered in the middle of the day AND night!
