Brother MFC 8660 DN
I have two questions about this all in one and was looking for help. It has a single tray (250 pages) and the accessory pull down tray (50 pages).
To have the printer print legal and standard paper do you use the accessory tray or did you go out and buy the optional second tray?
If only using the standard tray and accessory tray how do you program it to know what tray to pull from?
I just don’t want to buy a printer and not be able to print correctly and info would be helpful please visit my link for email or phone number or respond on the board Thanks.

Zee, How did you get your tray half off? Did you have a coupon?

I have a brother with....
this 50 page mulitpurpose tray, 5150D, and it works great as a dual tray printer. Go to the properties, click on accessories tab and there you can assign legal to 250 page tray and letter to MP tray.

Larry, are you still having the paper jam problem?
I haven't experienced any jams with my 5150D - just wondering of you ever resolved the problem you mentioned a while back.

Yes mike still happens....
brother suggested that I buy the second tray instead of using the multipurpose tray. I think I'll buy the 5250DNT before I do that and then have 3 back-ups. Hummmm.

Re: Yes mike still happens....
Figures the mfr. would tell you to spend more money... Unless the jam always occurs in the MP tray or when switching between letter and legal, that just sounds like throwing money at a problem and hoping it gets fixed.
Have you tried printing a range of pages around the jam? IOW, if the jam always happens on page 21 of a particular package, try printing only pages 10-35. If it still jams on the same page and there's no paper tray switch at that point, or it doesn't jam at all and there IS a change in paper size within the range, you can pretty much rule out a hardware problem.
