Can't get to any Adobe site ...

I've been trying for days, using three different computers, using different versions of IE, and can NOT access any part of Adobe's website that will pull up the Reader 8 download.

I've tried to get there through tucows, through Cnet - no go. What happens is the process of pulling up the page seems to simply 'lock' while in process ... the little hourglass spinning on into the endless realm of wherever it is that Reader really exists ...

Of COURSE you realize that the very FIRST step I took on this adventure was to UNINSTALL the Adobe Reader I had .... lol! Thanks Paul - you may have noticed I paid a couple visits to your site, what a Godsend! I didn't have any trouble with your link or the download of the older versions.

But ... I'd really love to have version 8. Any ideas out there?

Very weird, thanks anyway ...

I can't get through. Just get the endless hourglass. If I hit "stop", it doesn't stop either. Moving on to some phone calls - thanks for trying =)

Try downloading it from my website: Download -> Adobe Reader -> AdbeRdr80_en_US.exe

You Da' Man, Paul...

...I was going to try & send Renee the executable file, but it's too large (almost 21 mgb) to transmit via e-mail.

YOU are my HERO!

What a kind thing for you to do, Paul =)

Thank you SO much - I'm off to do another uninstall and reinstall, and have absolute confidence that this will succeed! =)

Wohoooo!!! THANKS PAUL!

Oh this does rock! I tested it using a pkg from the other day - one of those that wants to print at 1 ppm (that's ONE, as in "a page"!) - it flew out of the printer, about 1 per second!

Can't seem to find any answers as to WHY I can not access adobe's site. Even trying to go through THIS Adobe reader - choosing "online support", which should take me to one of their site pages ... nothing but the hourglass. No problems accessing any other site, as long as it doesn't contain the letters a d o b e ....

Happy Another Year - and thanks again!

Re: help, Help, Help. I downloaded the wrong thing.

Okay I downloaded something but it was Adobe photoshop which is not what I wanted to download at all and I don't even know how I did it. I clicked on where it said reader, and I got this. I went into all programs and adobe reader 6 is still the only reader listed besides this photoshop thing which I don't even know what the heck that does.
Someone please help

Severely technically challenged also...

However, yes, when Adobe 8 downloaded, it also included PhotoShop. But I did get Adobe 8. I had Adobe 7 & the download removed 7 & replaced it with 8. Perhaps you have to uninstall 6 first--which is what you had to do to go from 6 to 7 or there were PROBLEMS. If you go this route, please save 6 to a disk first (so you'll have something if all goes wrong).
I think (what the h... do I know?) the PhotoShop is part of a new feature of Adobe 8. A friend & I were playing with it & discovered that there is a new tool whereby you can take a 'snapshot' of text you have highlighted & paste it into Word--my guess would be that's where the PhotoShop part comes into play. And, boy, it does spool to the printer FAST! Woohoo! I also found ways to customize the toolbar buttons to your preferences.

Photoshop

It's Adobe's image-editing program and has nothing to do with Reader. I think they just bundle a trial copy of Photoshop Elements with Reader 8, so you can try it out and decide if you want to buy it (costs under $100). Not much use to you unless you're planning on fixing the photos from your digital camera or doing some simple graphics work.

The full version of Photoshop is a commercial product used primarily by professional graphic artists and costing somewhere north of $400 - I don't think they would bundle that with Reader, accidentally or otherwise... Smile
