Fees

I've been a signing agent for a while now and still feel like it is a shot in the dark on fee agreement. Sometimes it is obvious that my fee is over the top, then again, it is clear that the fee could have been more.
Any insight here?

no insight without a clue of what your fees are, and where you do business. Is your area populated with notaries?
You have to establish a profitable/workable plan that you can live with.

Yeah, create a fee schedule based on distance and stick to it.

Stop worrying about whether you could have made a few more bucks on any particular signing, just look at the bigger picture. Sometimes you'll have a super duper easy one, other times you'll have a PITA one, most of them are going to be pretty average. It all evens out in the end.
