Grant Deed Advice....

I had an issue tonight with a LO. The name in the docs of one of the borrowers were Jane Ann Doe Smith and in the ID is Jane Ann Smith and US passport Jane Ann D. Smith and no more IDs. She has an old ID that expired in 2000 that shows Jane Ann Doe Smith. I refused to do the signing. LO get upset bla, bla, bla. In my way home LO said that with the Grant Deed that issue will be fixed (DOT is as Jane Ann Doe Smith). My question is how this lady is going to proof in the GD that is that person????. The only way is with two credible witnesses but I want your opinions. Thank you for your time and advice.

Most likely

they'll just find a notary who is willing to notarize no matter what the ID says.

I think that one legal way they could do this, if I correctly remember a post that Titlegal made on here awhile ago, is that it would have to read Jane Ann D. Smith, who took title as Jane Ann Doe Smith. Then you notarize Jane Ann D. Smith and everyone is happy.
