Re: use PCL 5e driver
Dave is right. But also be sure to drop the dpi (dots per inch) as low as it will go. 300 with the PCL5 driver. Uses a lot less toner that way with no noticeable difference in the print quality.

Also try saving the file to your desktop. Sometimes this will speed up the process.

Re: HELP-printer problems - my nightmare too
My HP 1320 does the same thing on certain documents. I have spent additional money to upgrade my memory chip in the computer and everything. Just this week I spent about 2 hours on the phone with HP Tech support. The end result was - SURPRISE - I did not buy a big enough printer. The printer I have does not have a certain memory chip in it which allows it to automatically print these files fast, but for lots more dollars I could purchase one.

Does your PC memory helps? I have 2Gram
And my printers are only 16mb and I have never had a problem with slow printing.

Yes, you need to have sufficient allocation of virtual memory for window to spool the data. Also, the most preferable way of printer connection is via:
1. Ethernet 2. USB 2.0 3. Parallel

It sounds like your printer does not have enough memory. I use a brohter printer HL 5250 DN I have printed hundreds of loans some of them up to 200 pages or more at a time in about 20 minutes or less. I bought my printer at Office Max for about $ 300.00.

I had this problem also and here is how I solved it: (NOTE: THIS IS FOR WINDOWS XP)
On your desktop :
1. Click START 2. Click MY COMPUTER 3. Click PRINTERS AND FAXES 4. Click ADD PRINTER 5. Click NEXT 6. Choose "LOCAL PRINTER ATTACHED TO THIS COMPUTER" 7. Choose "USE THE FOLLOWING PORT" (usually LPT1 or the port you have your printer connected to. 8. In the next window, left hand column, find your printers manufacturer, HP for Hewlitt Packard, click to highlight 9. In the right hand column, scroll down until you see your printer model, click to highlight 10. Then click NEXT button on bottom 11. Choose "REPLACE EXISTING DRIVER" 12. In "Printer Name" RENAME the new printer to something like HPXXX PDF PRINTER so you know this is the printer for printing your PDF files. 13. For DEFAULT choose NO 14. For PRINT A TEST PAGE choose NO 15. Now an icon will appear in your PRINTERS & FAXES window with the new printer you just created. 16. Right Click on the new printer and then click on PROPERTIES 17. Click the ADVANCED TAB at the top 18. Click NEW DRIVER button 19. Click NEXT 20. Again, choose the manufacturer in the left column (HP) 21. In the right column look for your printer model. You should see your model listed several times with different PCL drivers: PCL, PCL6, PLC5E etc by it. Choose PCL or PCL5E (PCL works great for me. 22. Click NEXT. Now you are finished, you have set up your printer with new drivers without changing the original drivers for all your other printing. 23. Find a PDF file, print a test page BUT make sure when you click on FILE/PRINT you choose the new printer you just created (at the top by PRINTER NAME). 24. If the PCL driver you chose didn't work well, go to step 16 and choose a different PCL driver.
You can also make a shortcut on your desk top to PRINTERS and FAXES. When you are printing PDF files, just click on the shortcut then set your PDF printer as default and the pdf file will print automatically using the default printer.
Hope this works
