I did something today I've never done...
Went to this signing, my husband drove me and was going to go Christmas shopping for an hour. When we first drove up to the house, my thoughts were, "Oh, great, another one that is a mess". That was not the half of it. He finally lets me in, the living has his bed in it, no chairs at the dining room table. Another borrower who told him about RM's is there. She says just sit on the bed and sign. Curtains are all drawn and even with the 40 watt bulb you can hardly see. No carpeting on the floor the place is freezing. Now neither of these people look like they have had a bath in the last 5 years, he has a moped in the living room and the place smells like gasoline. The smell was terrible. I told them, WE ARE GOING TO HAVE TO GO TO MC DONALDS's AND SIGN, I need a table and chairs. She said "I'll drive you, I said "NO, my husband will take me over there." I called him to turn around and come back, he knows not to even ask why. He didn't like the place any better when we drove up in the drive way. I sat there in McDonald, everybody that came in stared at them. I wouldn't of dared suggest we go to Denny's, they wouldn't of let us in the place. The borrower had this leather hat on that feathers should have been thrown away 5 years ago with the hat. Any thing he felt like putting in the hat band he did, like a dental mirror. His clothes were so dirty and so were hers. She's the one I did a month or so ago, that place smelled so bad and she had to pick up the animal crap so I could even walk in her place, she was also a Signing Agent.

How sad. Sometimes elderly folks just can't get it together anymore. I've called my local church guy in several situations similar to yours, with excellent results. There can be many reasons for self-neglect, and depression is a big contributor. When Father Bob hears about a senior in this kind of trouble, he does his best to work a few miracles. JMHO

My sinuses are bad and I think that might be a blessing in our business.

Sometimes, true enough. Once, a youngish couple had a big garbage can (no lid) next to the table outside the kitchen. I did my best to breathe through my nose, as tears were streaming down my face, finally asked if it were possible to move the garbage. They were mortified! Totally forgot to put it 'away,' and quickly cleared out the offending stench maker. They were apparently used to it. I also declined the pizza...

Their problem I think stems from the bottle. They were on their way to the mini market to get a 12 pack when the signing was done.

"she was also a Signing Agent"
Shudder to think what kind of impression she makes as a signing agent.

You would run. She doesn't know notary law at all. I don't know how she passed the notary test, let alone the NNA signing agent test. The things that came out of her mouth floored me, I just stared at her, then started correcting her. She had actually done the application for this loan and wanted to sit in on the signing.

i have a friend who has chosen to live this way. I cannot tolerate it and do not go to her house. to look at her one would never know she lives like this.... she says she cannot give anything away... so because she has so much stuff she cannot get around it to clean and her house is so dusty and icky.... makes me incredibly sad
