Must vent!!!LONG....

Had signings at 11:00 am, 4:00 PM, 7:00 PM and 9:30 PM yesterday. 11:00 am completed, ON docs no problem. When I arrived back home around 12:45, I started e-mailing the title company about docs for the 4PM signing. This one was an hour and 15 minutes away from my home and I still hadn't recieved docs. E-mailed title and told them I had to have docs no later than 2:30 PM in order to perform the closing. No response. E-mailed again and then called to speak with the scheduler, no answer, left voicemail. NO return calls, no response to e-mails. At 5:20 PM, I was printing docs for my 7:00 PM, when I recieve an e-mail with docs for the 4:00 PM closing! I replyed that I had sent numberous e-mails and left a voice mail that I needed docs earlier or I wouldn't be able to do the closing. I even gave them the name of another notary in my area that they may try to call and see if she could do for them. During my 7:00 PM signing, this title company kept calling my cell and interupting this closing to discuss the 4:00 closing. When I got back home last night around 11:00 PM, the lender had called and left a message on my machine that the borrowers hadn't heard from me and it was late. Why wasn't I at the closing! This really kills me. The title company had the nerve to call me back and ask me to do it this morning, but backdate docs for yesterday! I told them absolutely not. O.K., I'm over it, on with the day!! Thanks for listening.

How could you be upset? It's not their fault that the lender and title company were a little to high off the eggnog to get the docs out on time and respond to your perfectly acceptable request. You should be able to jump through hoops and magically get everything done, or better yet, you should use your psychic notary abilities to "feel" when the docs are going to come in and plan your day accordingly.

Sheesh.... hope you have a wonderful holiday!!

I had a closing on Tuesday that was supposed to be at 2pm, then moved to 3pm, 4pm, 6:45pm and they did not sign. Got an email, apology from the title company the day after, and they also said that my check for $125 was in the mail and Merry Christmas.

I had one last night. Mrs. last minute shopper was at the mall and running thirty minutes late. Turned out to be forty five minutes. She kept calling Mr. saying I'm almost there. Nice fire going and a cup of hot cocoa kept me occupied until she arrived. Last one of the day. I have a signing today and received the EDOCS yesterday. So nice to have them ahead of time. Sometimes things just work out.

usually i tell them (when i'm clld for the assignment) i need the docs by ____ time, if not it's understood that i can't do it. i must say that i can count on one hand the number of times i've been hanging around waiting for edocs; although that's probably b/c most of the clients i have get them out on time!

Stress relief...

Absolutely give them a deadline with the understanding that, if it's not met, they either get someone else or their appointment gets pushed back to whenever YOU can get to it.

You can avoid edoc stress by remembering a little credo: "There's nothing I can do that will overcome what they will NOT do". Then just move on.

Words to work by Roger.
"There's nothing I can do that will overcome what they will NOT do"
I am adding that to my mantra list..... Smile

My version of the mantra

A lack of planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part.

Re: My version of the mantra

I charge a "no show" edoc = 1/2 or more of the siging to compensate me for my time chasing them down. Time is the one commodity that is absolutly nonrefundable. None of us get a do-over if it doesn't work out. I add that policy to every IC agreement I sign.
I love how these people are so free with
MY time, ask THEM to work for free, better yet, tell the truth when docs will be ready and do your job.... correctly... the first time ....
I know.... but 'tis the season for miracles !
