New Thread- I called "them"
I called the NNA spoke to someone who had some sense. She totally agreed that I was misinformed and that they have hired some new people who are in training.
She said if you are not compliant by them, you will just be a certified or non certified nsa. The compliant certified notaries are in the first tier, the certified second and the non certified last on the list. Geesh... yes they are a business as someone said... I tell ya.
She said she understands that people may have their own bgc done and they cannot deny or persecute someone for not going through them. She was very nice and very empathetic and has worked with the nna for 3 years.
Whew- because there was about to be a serious brouhaha....
Still a P'Oed Nyker- misinformation is a waste of time.
Have a good night yall... leaving the workplace dungeon.

But...
Back when you signed on with their NSA section (and paid handsomly for it, I am sure) did they tell you AT THAT TIME that you would be categorized and/or ranked as such? Seems a tad bit unfair... especially considering that once upon a time they just alphabetized everyone and if your name was "Julie Aardvaark" you were #1... but "Julie Zakowski" (who paid the same $$) was on the bottom of the heap. When I complained about THAT system, I was told that "the IT people will look into it, because rankings were supposed to be random and not alphabetical to ensure fairness". What WILL they think of next? BTW, I still have that Title available... and I'll put twinkly stars next to your name if you pay the extra $$!

Re: But...
Yes that did not sound all that hot to me either... but I did not feel like even getting into it. That's crazy isn't it Ms. Prestegard... Yes I sure did pay for my NNA and NSA as a new signing agent not knowing much then. Like general consensus, the NNA advertises well- they pull you in and then reel you out...
This whole bgc thing is a shambles.

Re: Sounds like you have a refund coming.
I just read this thread now, but see my recommendation on your earlier thread below. I agree with Glenn about the refund. However, you said above that they were a "shambles"... Remove the last four letters and I think you might be closer to the truth! ;>

Hey Ms. Janet and Ms./Mr. Lee
"Shambles"- I meant: botchery, disorganization, babel... LOL "Sham" can indeed be added to that list as well. :-)
I did send them an email about my concerns, not about the things I spoke about, but about other things I've encountered: uninformed customer service and belligerence, and a program I was interested in whereby the manager of that program went mia (even attached my emails with this manager for references), and some other issues.
I agree Ms./Mr. Lee that they can be a great organization if they would be less conniving and money hungry and really work for the notaries/nsa's that have ongoingly support them. For when you have quality, you do get quantity. Personally I'd rather get my "quantit" with the "quality" of my character. Funny you should mention this because I also mentioned a similar observation in my email.

The shame of it is...
that the NNA could be a really good organization FOR Notaries IF they'd get their heads out of 'how many more scams can we come up with so we make more $$' and into 'how do we best represent notaries'. If they would truly work FOR their own members, they'd have everyone clamoring to join--which would solve their $$ problem. Wow--what a concept!
