One Person's Answer
Hi Madison and welcome to the business. Your question isn't easy to answer. I don't think there's a set time period for you to expect to receive calls. You being contacted for an assignment depends on: 1) how well your profile looks/reads; 2) the demand for closers in your area; 3) your background and experience. I'll stop there but I can easily think up 3-4 more things. Since you didn't include a link to your profile, I can't comment on it. You may want to check NotRot to see how many premier and regular notaries are in your area. Does your profile advertise your experience (i.e., number of closings completed, years in the business, etc.)? Finally, you may want to go ahead and contact some of the companies listed on Signing Central. That way you don't wait for them to come to you - you're going to them. Good luck to you.

Re: One Person's Answer
Thanks for your response Michelle, I have checked, there are several in my area, but after reading one of the other responses to my question, I have a feeling if that is they type of person in my market on this site, they will be calling me soon enough. ;0)

not long unless you are in a saturated area. I think I got calls the first week I listed here, if I remember right.

Larry, there seems to be several here in this area, but again, the quality of some may be good for me! ;0) I am a Realtor/Loan Agent as well, and I am just taking this on for some extra money in the slow times. Thanks for your response!

Re: Newbie Question - Oy Vey
Seasoned signing agents in my area are doing transcription work.
Kindly said, Madison...take off the rose colored glasses, do some serious research, and understand the current real estate market. Save your commission and thoughts of a SA business for about 3 to 4 years from now.

Re: Newbie Question - Oy Vey
Ok, I dont have "rose colored glasses", and I am WELL EXPERIENCED in the Real Estate Market, and currently do many signings for my escrow companies, brokers, and agents. Yes, I make my money selling real estate and loans, and took this on to make a little extra during the slow times. I figured I would sign up here as this may be where companies go search for notaries in thier area. Thanks for your UNEDUCATED remark, maybe you should do your own research on the market before popping off at someones innocent question about the service at hand. Sorry it seems that someone with my expertise my be taking business from someone as insecure as yourself... I think thats what those supposed "rose colored glasses" are seeing from your response...

whelp...there you go folks. After 22 years in the title/escrow business I've been told my remarks are "uneducated".
I guess I better report back to CLTA, ATLA, The Myers Report, Lender Stats and the various tracking systems in real estate recordings that the "Notary Doc" has set us all straight.
Yes, indeed. The Notary Doc is now the new resource for everything in signings.
Independent notaries...do find out NotaryDoc's email addy as I'm sure the pearls of wisdom coming forth are ones to hang on, and plan your business by.
Surely there is a newsletter about your market research (so that no one else goes 'popping off' at the mouth)? Do add me to your mailing list. We circulate jokes at the title company - it takes the tension off in down times.

Which title company is that? I will be sure we NEVER use you, and Im sure its one not ever used by any Realtors I know! Years in the business does not equal "education", its what you DO with those years, obviously you have not done much...get over yourself and your higher then thou attitude.

Uh, Titlegal did not offer ANY good advice, not insecure here at all, just dont put up with rude remarks from people whom think they know it all... and really dont.. she should know what experience someone has before popping off at them if she doesent what it turned back on her girly.

Times have changed.
When I first signed up, I opted for the free listing. I got my first call within twelve hours. (No, I'm not kidding!) The following day I signed up for the Premier level in appreciation.
If Harry ever invents a Super-Premium level I'll be one of the first in line.
Even if you're in a saturated area, it MAY be worth your while. In any event, paying for a Premier listing is the most sincere way to show your appreciation for all the outstanding advice you receive here.
