NorthStar Notary

Has anyone done business with NorthStar Notary out of Huntington Beach, CA? Could not find anything in Search. Had a job last week with them...we had about 6 pages left to sign out of about 80 pages...they called and said that the broker wanted the items backdated, including my notary items. Told them I could not do that for them. Then the SS called back and said the broker changed their position, no date changes needed. An hour later, at my office, I called the SS to inquire on the disposition of the docs and he said that the broker had changed their mind again back to the original change request and because I would not make the changes, discard the docs. This was a "No way but pay" job.

The round trip was over 52 miles. They wanted to pay only half of my invoiced fee but I had told them prior to going on the job that my fee would remain the same regardless of whether the loan was completed or not completed. We will see in a month or so. How does one hold their breath that long?

Have a great weekend.

Re: NorthStar Notary- bad news!

Is this a real signing service or just some guy trying to make a few bucks off the top by referring business out to other notaries?!

I did a Spanish signing for him a few months back - piggyback in tc office. It was a royal PIA! The LO was there with his wife (she spoke Spanish, he didn't) who was extremely pissed because she wanted the EO to do the signing while she translated - illegal in CA. She kept interrupting, he wanted to leave, but she wouldn't let him... After we finally finished the first loan, the BO basically said they could leave now, nicely making it clear that he wanted them to go.

When I hadn't received payment after a while, I contacted Northstar Notary and was told that they had rescinded the loan - big surprise - so there were no funds to pay me! He said the tc was going to try to get something from the borrowers (should be the LO!). I advised that that was between him and them, as my contract was with him. And I haven't heard a word since. I'm debating my next steps, but it's clear to me that he has no intention of paying me.

Try olddebts.com. You will at least flood him with formal looking letters. Not too expensive. That's what I amy going to do. Half of my payment came on check from Viet H. Pham. I will hold the check for awhile lest he thinks I accepted it as full payment.

I did few transactions with NorthStar. Hong was the contact. My experience was excellent, she was very professional. I received all the payments within 3 weeks period.

I am looking forward to do more business with them.

I did a signing for them in October. Had to go twice b/c first time the borrowers refused to sign. Got paid a month later but they did not include my travel which was 56 miles. I sent them an updated invoice for the unpaid mileage and never heard from them again. They ignored my mileage invoice. I haven't read anything bad about them, but I didn't have a positive experience.
