OT: Thanks you's
One more thanks to all here for advice on the advice for my computer purchase..ESPECIALLY (No. 1) ND (which I couldn't call him back). As of this very, tiny, nano-second in time? I'm WIRELESS!! ND, back atch tomorrow!
Now, I get it that so many of you already are jaded members of the wireless community. ***Blah, Blah, wireless....ho hum. Been there, done that*** Not me.
HO HUM??? I SAY HO HO HO.......A HEARTY MEEEEEERY CHRISTMAS! Santa somehow picked the lock of my apartment. I woke up today and this box was on my desk. There was a bit of soot I suppose but the UPS man could have done that. I opened the box and all the brand names said "Lynksis".
S'cus me? Linksys? I know I wrote on my Christmas list these brands: "Bulova", "Tiffany", or at (least) "Dooney" - and the bottom of the barrell is "Calvin Klein". Nowhere did I list "lynxsis". I would have remembered that.
I'm supposed to be happy about Lynxsis?
I open the box and find a plastic box with cords and plugs. Great. I will NOT date this person again, ever.
Still - it says 'wireless' and it sounds cool (to go with the new Dell laptop) so I start opening things and sort of folling instructions in hooking this stuff up. Hmmm, doesn't work. There'a a number on the box so I decide to call. Thank God I had a full meal and a glass of wine or I would have died of starvation by the time Lynksis answered their phone. (I mean...my gosh...how is a girl to sustain herself during these cyber breaks?)
Anyhow, I finally got a little girl named Bianca. She sounded about 12. After several questions I sat Bianca down (via phone) and told her (firmly), "Bianca! Pretend you are talking to your own, very dumb Mother who surprises you that she can even put one foot in front of the other. Pretend it is HER that you are leading through this process, and maybe well get through this".
(I DID hear a deep sigh over the phone, but to her credit, she carried on).
Long story short, Bianca did her job. TitleGal is wireless with the brand new fancy Dell. My computer is in my lap (thank goodness I don't have to worry about damage to reproductive organs or anything) the Chihuahua is quite miserable on the sofa (he thinks he's been replaced with something like a TV Tray, but there's no food there....wtf is that??)
Much thanks to ND, and Bianca of Lynksis.
Also thanks to Beverly's dog which for me? Gave me the true meaning of Christmas. Thanks all for your help.

TG...Not sure if I'd been of any help, but would be happy to hear if your fancy Dell E1705 ran below $900.

My fancy Dell is the 1505 (sorry) and can I say....I love this computer, I love this computer, I love this computer.
Did I mention I love this computer?
I have no clue what the 1705 offers beyond mine but this one suits my needs to a tee and then some. Mine is upgraded to Duo Core, 2g's and a ton of other stuff. For full specs I'll be happy to send you the list. I got mine for (I dislike talking money) for less than 1600 w/Office, Adobe, Vista upgrade and...drumroll please....
Madden football. (hey, the kid likes this part)
But - I do want to call you back. If you find a better deal on my new baby, just don't tell me, okay?
Nite, ND.
The wireless is great! I'm typing while under my down comforter and the chihuahua snuggled up beside me. Doesn't get much better than that....... and if it does? Don't tell me, please. I'm quite content.

LOL!!
I got a kick out of reading your messages! In fact, it makes me want to go get a new computer - and glass of wine! The latter will have to wait until this evening, though...
