OT - Update on Grandsons Surgery

We have been blessed. After he was in surgery for 2 hours the doctors came out to tell us that
they were not going to have to take nerves from his legs. They took a portion of another nerve
in the same arm and did a nerve transfer. No body cast, he only has his arm bound to his chest.
He is doing great and we got to bring him home this afternoon. No hospital stay. Thanks so much
for all your prayers.

It amazes me what they do in recontruction. My daughter had her left arm rebuilt last spring after getting t-boned in her car (Other guy shot out from a stop sign). She has about 85% use and is still in therapy, but she has her arm! She can even wear her wedding rings!
You can hardly see the scars too. The sewing they did in the ER ar whip stitching and are ugly purple things but that fore arm where they rebuilt with titainum and cadaver bone is barely visable.
Congratulations! he's a lucky boy!

Thanks Sandi, he's sleeping right now, they gave him morphine during the surgery and after that gave in Lori-tab and we can give it every 4 hours. He has woken up, but I can't get a smile out of him and it breaks my heart.

he is probably so tired from all the meds and he should be fine tomorrow. I have two granddaughters 5 and 1 , they are great. I had surgery yesterday also, outpatient in at 8:20 out at 9:00. Just a local but my leg today is killing me.

I have had 2 shoulder surgeries and I know how he feels. I have been through alot, 2 years ago, I had dental implant surgery. I had major bone loss and before they could do the dental implants. I had to have bone grafts from my leg and implanted to my gums. The worst of it was my leg. I could not walk for two weeks but my mouth did not hurt at all. Now I have permanent dentures to the tune of $45,000.
