If you're printing a PDF, make sure you check "Choose Paper Source by PDF page size" in the Print dialog box. Also, check the "Accessories" tab on the printer properties page and verify that you've defined what paper size is in what tray.
If neither of those apply, could you be more specific about the problem? What kind of package you're trying to print, how you know it's mixed size, etc?

Thx mike! I will try that tomorrow.
One of the probs I had when brother had me do trial as I explained to the tech our edocs have legal and letter mixed tog....it printed legal on legal etc but did all the legal pages and then all the letter pages .... which would not save me a bit of time....
I will try what you suggested and hopefully that will address it... as most of my files are pdf.
btw, i have legal in the bottom tray... didn't you say legal on top for less paper jams?
again a BIG THX!

If you have two trays (as opposed to a single tray plus a multipurpose tray, as on the HL-5150D that I have), it shouldn't make a difference which paper you load in what tray as long as you are consistent. The jams Larry and I were talking about in an earlier thread seem to be related to the MP tray, which is probably not really designed to be a second tray - it works sometimes, and other times it jams.
The key is to make sure the printer knows what size to expect in each tray, which you do on the Accessories tab of the printer properties. Once that's set up, as long as the file you're trying to print contains page size information AND your print program knows to look for the page size, the printer will pull the page from the proper tray.
If the file DOESN'T contain page size information (or you haven't set the properties correctly), the printer will usually pull all pages from the primary tray until there is no more paper, and then start pulling from the secondary tray. That may be what you're seeing when it prints all legal first and then letter. It's probably better to set your primary tray to legal size and make sure it's full before starting to print - that way, if the file you're trying to print can't tell the printer what size paper it needs, it will all come out on legal size.
Does this make sense?

I know you probably have done this, but it never hurts to go back into your printer preferences and double check that you have the proper size paper assigned to the proper tray. Also, under spooler settings, make sure you have the box checked to begin printing after first page is spooled. That should correct the separation issue. I like legal in the t op tray. Seems t o work better. If that doesn't work then you may have other issues.
If you are printing .pdf and you upgraded from Adobe 6 to 7 and you did not completely remove 6 before you downloaded and installed 7, that could cause issues.
Finally, are you spyware and virus free?
Hope this helps, good luck.
