SOX of 11 Mareblu Aliso Viejo, CA
SOX has threaten to sue if I did not post the fact that I DID get paid, nearly 3 to 4 months later. I got paid in full. I did get paid and the check was GOOD!!! Did not bounce.
Did anyone else get the threat of a lawsuit??

Roger, the way I eventually collected from SOX was to tell them that I would voluntarily post that they had paid me on two message boards, provided they sent my check within xx days. I explained that their reputation was in the gutter, and that since I had followed thier ridiculous invoicing procedure to the letter, there was no room for withholding payment. I think they understood what I was saying to them... I got paid, and I posted the information as agreed. No threat of lawsuit. "Methinks the wench doth protesteth too much" comes to mind. SOX is a sinking ship... desperate people do desperate things to stay alive

I would have taken em up on the threat, and brought about 9,000 other notaries into court with me to testify about their payment policies.

Me! With documentation, too!
They slurred their name & by time I discovered it, it was too late. Trust me, I did everything 'right'....several times... and still had to go thru the BBB to get paid.

Nonsense, it's never too late. I would pack up and leave in the middle of a signing if I discovered that it was really SOX that was supposed to pay me.

Kill two birds with one stone...
Not a bad idea...this going to court... We oughta get everyone together that hasn't been paid, sue the folks in their home county small claims court (you can add $100 or so for travel expenses) if we could get it on the docket for the same day we could have a NotRot convention while we're their.
Those of us who haven't been fortunate to do a job for SOX will have to pay our own way.
What the heck... any decent convention center in Aliso Viejo?

Re: Kill two birds with one stone...
I would love to invite all the witnesses to this mockery of a trial. Oh, did I tell you, they also want to place me on a Don't USE List. Anyone know about that???
I guess that despite the fact I did over 10 closings for them, the only reason for them to list me is that I DARED TO COMPLAIN ABOUT NOT GETTING PAID.

Nope, after they paid me, I posted that they did. Maybe that's why? I agree with Lisa though, desperate things, imagine what would happen if they actually paid on time, nobody would complain! What a concept.

I don't remember If I ever did a retraction/getting paid. I did tell some that I did get paid and that the check did not bounce.

What is Wrong w/SOX?????
I to worked for SOX a while back, & went through the ridiculous invoiceing system they have in place. And, as so many (all?) of they're former contractors have done before me, had to re-invoice, email, phone, ect. only to recieve false promises that 'the check is in the mail' repeatedly, when I could get through to someone.
And, as so many before me have found out, the only reliable way to get paid is to file a complaint with the BBB and, after getting scolded by they're bookkeeper on line, they finally cough up what they have agreed to pay in the first place. (At least that was the way it was for me and, from what I have read, the only way for most of us here.)
Why on Earth do they play this demeaning game? They must know that they're reputation stinks, that anyone who has ever worked for them before will never do it again, & that those who might work for them in the future certainly are having second thoughts when SOX calls.
And yet, they are still in business with the same old 'ch--ting & stalling' busniness plan (after dealing w/them, that is the only phrase that fits). What is up with those clowns? I surely would like to know what really is 'the rest of they're story'.

Re: What is Wrong w/SOX?????
I bet BRANDI gets a check every week. LOL
I guess that I complained too much about NOT GETTING PAID that I was a pain in the buttt.
Guess what??? My pain in their buttt got them to finnally pay up. All the retractions in the world will never make up for the pain and suffering that we have to go through to get paid.

Tell them you hired a new book keeper and would have to check to see if the payment been posted.
