What an ever-livin' hoot!

I saw my first live roller derby last night. A quarter of a century ago, I used to watch the action on TV. Then someone told me that the local team, the Austin Texecutioners, skate virtually in my backyard. So, last night I grabbed the platinum blonde and we hied ourselves to the rink.

There were spikehairs on the guys, trashbag chic on the gals. Lots of tattoos that must have been done when both the tattooer and his human canvas were hallucinating, lots of bad dye jobs, lots of torn fishnet hose, lots of gimme caps. Black seemed to be the color of sartorial choice.

I guess you can can expect that from a sport where the penalty box is an electric chair and with players named Bloody Mary, Jen Entonic, Lucille Brawl, Sic Shooter, Slim Kickins, and – my personal favorite – Cheap Trixie.

Oh, and Cali…I was told about the local roller derby while at a signing, so this post should be okay.

I remember watching Rack (Raquel) Welsh in a Roller Derby movie. That was fun lol. I always wanted to try that afterwards, being the avid skater that I was.
