computer help needed
this isn't notary related but I know that there are people on here familiar with these kinds of things. Somehow I picked up spyware from somewhere. Now there is an alert on lower right hand corner of my computer monitor indicating that there is a trojan. When I click on it it goes to an ad for spyware security software for vermiworms? Can someone please tell me how to get rid of this spyware?

Your computer has been infected with a virus and it's acting somewhat like a regular program where the AV can't detect. Check your file and setting under "my document" to see if there is any odd program file exist there.

Unfortunately, we need to become security experts also when on the internet.
There is some free stuff available such as Ad-Aware by Lavasoft , Spybot and Spyware blaster. What one doesn't clean up, the other one will and they also protect while you are surfing, but they must be updated frequently. Google those names and they will direct you to a download site such as download.com.
Microsoft is getting very good, finally, on fighting the problem. Here is a link where you can scan you computer for free and get info on their free defender program.

Good Luck

Also here is a free Anti virus program that is very good: http://www.avira.com/en/pages/index.php
You can also scan your computer online with this link: http://housecall.trendmicro.com/
Spybot Search and Destroy should be used in addition to anti virus: http://www.spybot.info/
Adware can find things the others don't: http://www.lavasoftusa.com/products/ad-aware_se_personal.php
They are all free. If you can right click on the icon in your task tray (the lower right hand corner) and choose exit.. do that before you run these programs.
Good luck.

I'm a computer geek at heart and I found, although some of the names mentioned to disinfect your computer are good, nothing compares to the ALL in ONE (little known) "Avast! on access scanner" It is great and best of all free. All you need to do is register it once a year after the 30 day trial. It's the easiest and most thorough protection. It updates itself and lets you know that your version is up to date at all times. Go to AVAST.COM and choose the home version(free with registration) You don't even have to give it your real info to register.
