does anybody think this is weird?

I got a call from somebody who said he is from Countrywide in a local city here. He had a signing for me in a city close by and asked if I could. I said "of course" (straight from Countrywide and all). He told me signing fee $100, so I hesitantly took it - thinking he will give me more business at normal fee after he sees my work. After a couple of phone conversations and a little detective work - I realize he is a notary. He is not a Countrywide employee at all. He told me to make sure and fax my invoice to him (his home fax #), but make my ivoice to Countrywide. I don't get it. Is this normal or fishy smelling?

Re: Rhonda: Beware of Ndwa

Laura is that you? Why not just come out and say what is on your mind? Would be more professional than hiding and throwing arrows.

Re: Rhonda: Beware of Ndwa - About Andy - NO!

**He owns a SS in WA.
Mostly does Countrywide.
He gets $275. You get $150.
F* him.**

No! Not F* Andy about anything. This really is mean.

You say, "Andy gets $275 from CW and he pays $150?" I don't know that he gets $275 as I have never heard that from him myself...I do know that he gets $200 - $225, but not so sure about $275. I think it is more like $225. If he gets $50 more, good for him. Andy and I have been discussing his business in the SA industry for two years.

What I believe through observation of Andy growing his business is that CW trusts Andy to handle things for them. They won't just pay anyone that amount to get the job done..

CW will pay more for things being done well. I know that, you apparently know that...yet, many of us have not had the wherewithall or savvy to go and get their business at $200+. If you can get $275, then go for it.

Andy has had the know-how and the b@lls to guarantee the SAs work to get the larger fees and pass them on to the SA. He has acted as a *deal maker* for notaries to get better fees to pass on, NOT a broker of notary services, Jason. I will do their edocs for $150 and be glad to get it. That's my all inclusive fee. (Call me Andy! I will work for you.)

Here's the thing about Andy...he's posted here what he's been doing. He's in an area where CW needs notaries. He has SHARED all this without hiding who he is. (Who are you, Jason?) He has built a business there and he has earned CW's trust.

Andy will not do badly because of your post...he will have many coming to his signing service now because clearly, he is not trying to rip SAs off by paying them $75 when he's getting $225.

I don't care what fees are on the table if my $150 minimum is met. In fact, Andy's model of SS is the kind that would change my entire view of SSs...he's obviously not trying to grind off a notary's fee to nothing.

I wholeheartedly disagree with the spirit of the post against Andy.

To my knowledge this is a very good, kind man who is helpful, who is a good friend, who understands our business and who has a history of difficulty through his Vietnamese heritage he has overcome...Andy has seen things in his life and through coming to America that would make us all shudder...he is a role model to us all ... he has quietly created a dream in American life. He is the type to wish well to all. If I ever suspect differently, you have my word that I will let you all know...however, today, I am glad to say after two years of frequent phone calls and exchange of information, ideas and small gifts...I am proud this man is my friend.

About Andy and his WA Network:
As far as his previous attempt at networking, his focus was to bring those higher deals to the notary network in WA...however, it may be MY fault he is not longer trying to be involved in a network because I explained to him my bad experience with a Tx SS who sucked the clients out of our client list. Based on the rules I wrote, I could not endorse him running a network. I could be wrong about that--Andy truly wants to bring higher fees to notaries...but the fact remains that I could not endorse it in networking IF he had signing service activity...so when he asked me, this was my advice to him: Andy, go do well for notaries by getting the great fees from CW...build a signing service based on that, pass along better fees and do your part that way. If you do that, no one can suggest you are not the honest, good person that you are.

Regarding Andy...

Brenda, I do not know Andy as well as you do. I wish I did! What a stellar example of a SS!
I do, however, feel very secure and comfortable with your opinions, as you have proven to me to be 'above reproach' this past 18 months that I've been reading the boards. Your word is gold in my book, Brenda, and if you say Andy is a stand-up kind of guy, then I'm with you.

Andy, feel free to call me any time you have a closing in my area... I'd be happy to work with you Smile

Re: Regarding Andy...

Lisa - I just keep going back to that Andy has been forthright about what he is doing and has not tried to be sneaky. Thanks for the vote of confidence in my word...this has just been my experience with him as a person and through observing him growing his business.

Ndwa - About Andy - Good to work with in Business

I used to book Andy when I was a scheduler for FASS. I can not tell you the number of times Andy helped me find someone to cover a signing when I needed it.

I would be proud to work with Andy anytime.

Re: Rhonda: Beware of Ndwa

Andy has never hidden that he has a SS. He's talked about it here many times. And please, feel free to list all the SS that pay $150 or more for signings. Oh, and be yourself Laura V. Don't hide behind a pathetic alias. No one's gonna buy your book anyway.

Geez, that was a sad comment. I don't know Andy from Adam ('xuse me, couldn't resist) but I do know that I've e-mailed him once or twice for information and he was ALWAYS forthcoming, extremely polite and just.....nice. Personally I wish he'd expand to nationwide but that's another post. He's never pretended to be anything other than who he is...I appreciate him.

Re: Rhonda: Beware of Ndwa

Ok, I'm missing something on the Jason really being Laura V with an ax to grind. However, Andy is a fine upstanding business person and he guarantees his and his agent's work, you have to know what you're doing. He'll get you more from CW than what another SS would give.
Now for his being a SS, I think we all knew that. No news there.
Maybe this character that says F* Andy didn't have what it takes to be in his network? Or could it be that he/she is feeling the pinch of competition and have a jealousy issue because he/she is trying to get those higher fees and is not successful. hmmm

Jason/Laura, you are ate up girl

Stop hiding behind that Jason pseudonym, and let it go.
Your anger is unhealthy, take it up with Andy privately.
BTW, FWIW most SS are getting around $275, and many offer less than $150.
I'd work for a SS that offered me $150, knowing they were getting $275.
It's called free enterprise.
