resigning a mortgage

I got a call for a ss to resign a mortgage from Aug, I get the mortgage and it is dated August 18, 2006 pre printed in the ack what do I do about the date? Anyone know for sure?

Draw a line thru it and add the date you actually notarized it.

Depnds on YOUR state laws

Some states allow for "fixing" a document and/or the notary certificate, which may or may not allow for using the initial date of the transaction. Some states, such as Florida, forbid the correcting of certificate, period. In FL, every time the notary seal is affixed on a document, it is a NEW notarial act and must follow the procedures outlined in our state statutes for notarizing signatures.
