Alabama Closing Heads UP
Was contacted by this company to do a signing at the last minute. Scanned the confirmation and started downloading and printing. Drove 70 miles, started the signing and then the borrower says this is the wrong interest rate and says he's not signing - was there an hour between what we had gone through and trying to resolve. Called Alabama Closing and advised him what was going on and he said all I could do was explain the RTC and leave it up to them. No sign. Drove 70 miles back home.
They sent me $50 for 3 hours driving, 2 loan pkgs., and 1 hour at the borrowers. Their confirmation states $50 for no sign but asks you to sign and fax back to acknowledge. I didn't - but they still only paid $50. So I just wanted you to be aware of this so you won't make the same mistake I did.
I don't post often so just wanted to say - wish I was as smart as Paw - and thanks to Charm for the reverse mortgage info!!

I had the same problem....I traveled a long distance...docs were not right or complete, didn't close and nene the less ot was on a saturday afternoon during football season and I missed the games. Your lucky.....I was so fed up with the experience I didn't bill them because I didin't want to deal with them again. I might should have billed them but I'm just glad I know better than to work for them again.

Interesting! I traveled for $100. 45 days later I called and they had "forgotten". Two weeks later I got a check for $50., claims it didn't fund.

Re: Should be Alabama CLOSINGS
I'm glad you all posted this info. I got a call from them today while I was in the car - I accepted the job for tomorrow. Got home and checked their rep on Notary Rotary. When the confirmation came thru two hours later, it had a contract for me to sign which said that they will pay a $25.00 trip fee if the loan rescinds or does not fund, or if the borrower refuses to sign.
I e-mailed Alabama that under no circumstances would I do this job for $25.00 and I was not willing to sign their contract. They called and tried to talk me into it, but I said no way and I canceled the job. I have enough business from other companies that I don't need to take a risk on this. The guy on the phone was really nice, but I don't work for free.

I've never had a loan not fund with these guys and they've always paid me in a timely manner. They are always very nice, considerate, and return e-mails / calls promtly. I'll continue to do business with them.
