Blackberry Users

This sounds like it would be a nice addition to my business. How many of you use one?? And what do you use it for? Email, GPS capabilities, ect.

I used to have one but I'd rather have my wireless laptop with me. It costs just about the same to have wireless internet "with you".

That was my other thought. The main purpose is for traveling and using a naviator of some sort. There are so many programs coming out that provide GPS navigation its hard to choose which would be beneficial for one's business. Brenda from the great state of Texas had said that she uses her laptop with a program for directions and that it worked nice. (That was a post from quite awhile ago, so hopefully I got that right. If not, sorry Brenda)

I use a Blackberry and I'm very happy to have it. I have a Bluetooth headset also, which is very nice, as I'm not always getting tangled up in headset wires.

Since I have a full-time day job, I have to be away from my home computer all day until about 5:15 p.m. I do signings evenings and weekends. When I'm at work and a call comes in, I step across the hall into the file room to talk privately. My after-hours notary signing agent work is not my boss' concern, so I like to keep everything private.

Often I accept an e-doc job for the same evening as I receive the call. I like being able to see my email on my Blackberry, so I can make sure they have confirmed my fee and sent me enough phone numbers for the borrowers. When the edocs arrive in my inbox, I can open the attachments with my Blackberry, although, they're not always readable on such a tiny screen. This is the challenging part.

If I did signings full time, I would probably prefer a wireless laptop, because the screen is larger. I just don't know how well my boss would take to me bringing a wireless laptop to work. And if I did have a wireless laptop, I'd still have to have a cell phone, too, so that would be twice the expense.

We careful with Blackberry...

Not sure how this whole lawsuit is going to turn out.

The intelligent side of me says that Blackberry will pay out a TON of money for the infringment, before the courts order them all shut down.

But another side of me says that the competing company will not accept an offer, in order to completely shut down the blackberry's...

One of those new Treo's might be the safer option, especially since they now all run Windows applications, and come with Microsoft Office installed.

A Treo is...

Basically the same thing as a Blackberry.. its a Smart phone

Its a cellphone / PDA, has GPS capabilities(might be an addon feature), has the stylus...

Re: We careful with Blackberry...

I read in the newspaper that the government is nervous about this lawsuit because so many government officials use the Blackberry!! They figured it will chaotic if they have to go to a new system.

Re: We careful with Blackberry...

I do have a Blackberry which I purchased after my Treo took a dive in a pool. I love it, better than my Treo. T-Mobile sent me a message on my Blackberry and they have worked out something and we will be notified of an update to download and they said everything should be fine. Its the email with Blackberry thats the problem not the cell phone part. I have a small wireless laptop, so email is not the
most important feature of this phone. It is nice to know that edocs have arrived while you are away from your laptop email

Other than wireless, what pros and cons between the two. I'm thinking of changing my phone (just bought an Axim pda), so I don't really need that part.

SanDiegoCA about Blackberry...

Do you say to buy one, or not? I am really interested in having one since Margaret FL has endorsed it.

Brenda, I would carefully gather as much info as possible from everybody you can before buying about $200 (or more) gear tied to yet another monthly bill for service.

I intended there to show the Sprint/Nextel page hadling many PDA phones, including Blackberrys. Here's one more, with the latest info:
http://nextel.com/en/solutions/blackberry/index.shtml?id8=blackberry

I have a five year old contract with Nextel using a very simple i60C phone by Motorola, and I also use a Palm Tungsten T PDA. I've been VERY happy with Nextel for cell phone service, and the service has only been better since the merger with Sprint.

I'm thinking about combining those two hardware pieces into one Blackberry 7100i,
http://nextelonline.nextel.com/NASApp/onlinestore/en/Action/SubmitRegionAction

so that I will also have the following to use in my signing agent travels:
http://nextel.com/en/solutions/blackberry/bb_telenav.shtml

But ......... I will take all the time needed to carefully consider all other possible options, and so should you. Everyone will see these differently.
