Creating a Co-op CNSA collection Agency

I'm going to give this a try and see how everyone who may read this feels about this. Just going out on the limb to see if this is a good idea or bad...but as CNSA's this is really for you all.

I know many of us complain about bad SS/Title/Lender's who don't pay or disappear with funds that are due to services that we perform. It has become an issue. In many cases, it comes to the point that many feel they need to file a suite or hire a collection agency to go after funds for them. It is a headache. However, if you performed services and were promised payment and did not get it, no matter how little or large it is, it is still YOUR money. You earned it and you have rent or a mortgage to pay, and bills to pay, etc... as well.

So I'm willing to take suggestions, advise, thoughts, opinions that are NOT really debatable or conflicting oriented (no biting, fighting, insulting, etc..).

How about creating a Co-op of CNSA to creat a collection agency that works only for CNSA's/Notaries that works for you at a reasonable fee to after those funds. If you have 2 or more that need collections. Someone had suggested 3000.00 but I dont know of or think anyone really has that many to go after, and if they do...I feel for them and that would really be worth working hard.

I do have collectioins experience. I know many others here probably does too.

How many feel this would be something we can together create and work on..and if so, what suggestions would you like to contribute.

Have you looked into the licensing requirements? One of the obstacles you might encounter are the various state laws regarding collection activities by collection services. In the notary business it is my opinion that if you have $3000 in outstanding depbt that is agedmore than 60 days you are doing something wrong.

Well fortunately I don't. I only have $65 from last summer. But someone else told me it may not be worth doing it unless you have clients with $3000 or more. I would say you would be something wrong if you have $3000 or more owed to you by one or more SS.

That would be into consideration of the collectioin laws from state to state, if and when we should decide to do this. It already was a thought. I'm just trying to see how many folks would be interested to see this happen.

AMCooperative advertised a cooperative collections service at one point. I don't know if they ever made good on it, but you could call and ask.

Maybe we could find a new or home-based collector who collects nationwide who would accept lower amounts to collect based on volume. I know I'd use them for the few outstanding invoices I have.
