Do all Signing Services rate all their Notaies?
I've been thinking about this and also would it be ethical to ask a SS for the rate they have assigned you for the work that you do. I was also wondering if anyone has asked a SS to write a letter of recommendation for you, to submit with a resume. I' m going to be working on putting together a resume but I don't know who to use a references pertaining to SS.

I would have no problem with writing a letter of reference or recommendation for any notary who has worked with us. We keep a database of all of our notaries along with good or bad comments about each of them. We would ask that your request be submitted in writing. Good luck to you!! Susan

I've had a few title and mortgage companies write me a letter of recommendation. I've been planning on adding it to my website (just haven't gotten to it yet). They were happy to do it. I will use them if a company wants references. But I wouldn't give SS recommendation letters from title or mortgage companies, only other SS. You don't want them to have the names of companies you work with directly.

If I gave you a reference, it would be based on your work performance and I would not care who you distributed it to and wouldn't even consider asking why you might ask for a reference. I have NEVER asked a notary for a reference---and if I should ever do so, it would not be so that we can gain more potential clients. Usually, I can tell within 30 seconds into a phone call if I want to use a notary or not. If I can share my experience relating to a specific notary, I will do so, good or bad. Signing services get bashed regularly even though there are good ones out there. Notaries are more than a dime a dozen and I believe the good ones should get recognition and I would gladly share that info with whomever might ask. If a signing service, a title company etc. called me for a reference regarding a notary, I would give them an honest one. I would hope that everyone else would do the same. I believe that what goes around, comes around and I do hope that everyone in this business succeeds. By the way, if you could include a nice reference from a signing service on your website, it would make you look even better! Have a great evening and we wish you the best! Susan

Susan, you sound like one of the good ones.
But title and mortgage company contacts are like gold and we've seen too many posts about SS that used this info improperly. The safest policy is SS get references from other SS, title companies get references from other title companies. No chance for any funny stuff.

Your right Al, Susan does sound like one of the good ones, but I had this happen to me, so I am very leary of sending any references now.
