By chance did you pull a credit report on them? Or, simply go upon the testamonial of a few notaries that were lucky enough to get paid?
Wonder what would happen if you showed up at thier door step bill in hand? OH by the way were you lucky enough to get an actual physical address for the alleged DEADBEAT ?
Seems to me for the money these services make, the notary fee could be paid as soon as the tracking fee hit thier desk. What else do they do for their money?

Yeah I have their address.....

I've discussed this before on these boards, I worked for them for over a year with no problems. Although they were slow payers (don't ream me again over this one!) they did consistently pay, until a few months ago. They lost their main office person; I could rely on her to get me paid. Since she left I stopped working for them and have been slowly collecting. However, my last job was Dec 20 and ever since then have been getting a huge run around. The owner will not even speak to me or return any phone calls, faxes, emails etc. They are in CA, maybe I need to take a little trip down south. However, if there are other notaries with outstanding invoices I have a collector that we could use together, in fact another notary on these boards recommended him.

Oh yes, I spoke with their main title company they work for too and told them what was going on. They acted shocked that notaries are not getting paid. (Suzanne's office contact, John told me the title company never paid them and therefore that is why I was not paid; not true, Kelley Escrow told me it was paid Jan 6th and cashed Jan 9th.) I am tired of begging for my money, time to use other means.

I dont know about California, but in Texas you can send the information to the Texas State board of Notaries.
File a claim against thier bond for breech of contract due to non-payment. If thier taking loan signing they would have to be bonded as well.

Amanda,

I worked with Mysti and Suzanne. Trust me when I tell you, Mysti was not on your side. She may have complained to you about Suzanne, but there was NOTHING Mystii could do. I have sat in that office for hours at a time. I see how they operate. Suzanne is a brand new real estate agent working for Seven GAbles. She does not have time for Documents on the Run. I would not be surprised if she is floating that business with your and other notaries money. She is pathetic!! Her MO is to write checks and then mail out a fraction of them. She starts mailing the rest as the notaries start calling for payment. It's like a lottery system. Six months or so ago she bounced a check to me for over $700. She made good on it, but that is not the point. I hope every notary see's this and runs!!! I think I would rather work for SOX!! (Not that I would) I have her cell number if you are interested in calling her direct. That is if she has not already changed the number.

.... MY POINT EXACTLY ....

We as notaries in this capacity, are expected to hand them over our information, and basically its as much or more infomation than is required on most credit applications ... but yet we are not the one using thier money!!!! In Fact ... we are extending them a line of credit.
They need to be more in a postition to be held accountable for thier debts. NOT THE NOTARY.
--
As I have stated in a thread before, part of my company deals with freight, both drivers and shippers. You run a drivers pay 60 or 90 days you wont like the results they will come to you and it wont be pretty. Plan B they turn the debt over to a factoring company. They are worse than hound dogs. They dont let up. You pay or you usually dont get much business after that. That might be a well worth looked into option for notaries look into Factoring on SS companies that have poor credit ratings ... opps but wait ... they dont have to have credit do they ? at least not that we as the ones making thier paycheck are allowed to know about!
Wonder how fast Mysti and Suzanne could find a check book when a 240 lb guy on a Harley pulled up and walked into thier place with a fist fulla overdue bills?
ALAS the problem again, if you go after them will they use you again? Well, you cant please all the people all the time. They didnt pay thier bills so, do you really need them? How many notaries are they gonna do this way before they cant get anymore notaries? If notaries requested Credit Applications and held them accountable for thier credit, it wouldnt take long !
When they do this at least in TEXAS its theft of services, you should be able to go after thier bond. BUT WAIT ... they are SS companies DO THEY HAVE A BOND ? I wouldnt know all I see is a flashy web site and a BBB icon that they paid for. I KNOW I FEEL SAFE !!!

Re: .... MY POINT EXACTLY ....

When we sign up to a SS many require our bond be faxed to them. How about we start asking for them to fax us their bond after they complete the credit app?

Comments?

Re: .... MY POINT EXACTLY ....

I don't think you would get anywhere asking a ss for a credit application. They would probably laugh at you and then move on to the next notary. I think it's a great idea in theory.

Re: Got it......check this out.

Amanda,

You are good!! I always blocked my number when I called. She will eventually pick up the phone because she is a real estate agent. She is hungry for business. She only became an agent sometime last year. Last I spoke with her she had not even had her first sale. Maybe it's just me but since I equate her lack of paying for our services as stealing (especially since we know she was paid for our services) it bugs the heck out of me that she posts her memebership of her church and Christan academy. Aaarghhhh!

Charlene...I agree!

I wonder what she would do if her church (which she is a trustee of) knew of her business dealings. It bugged me too.

I did call early today, (have no idea how to block my number though, maybe you can let me know?) and she replied by email with the following:

Amanda, Checks were cut Friday. I believe your check was in that batch. I will be in the office at the beginning of next week to sign them and get them in the mail.
Thanks for your patience and hard work for Documents On The Run, Inc. We really appreciate it.
Very truly,
Suzanne Crehan

How nuts is that? Very cookie cutter reply. I want to speak to the woman directly. I tell you, I will truly consider driving down there to visit her face to face if I do not get my check soon!

How do I block my number? Smile

Re: Charlene...I agree!

Hi Amanda,

I can't get over the trustee part! Jeez, if that's not crazy I don't know what is. She is very "religious" and it really ticks me off. Obviously when push comes to shove she will make choices (like keeping our money) that are against religious beliefs. At least that is my opinion. I know nobody asked me for it. Smile Smile

When you want to block your number just press the *69. The star symbol and then the number 6 & 9. It works like a charm She picked up on the first call. I didn't get smart about it until I had left her two messages on her voice mail. Did you email her at her seven gables email address? I'm sure that's why she responded so quickly. If she is smart she does not want anybody at her real estate office to know about the financial difficulties with docs on the run. She even told me she has been talking to them about buying it. Obviously that did not work out. The cookie cutter response is what you will get when you call her, but she won't want you messing with her so I'll bet you will see your money in the next week or so.

I hope you keep me posted!

Call blocking is *67, not *69 :-)

To use call blocking: *67 (+ number being dialed)

*69 is for something else.

Oops! *67 correct

*69 redials the last number you dialed. Sorry for the confusion.
