Everyone busy this week?....
I had one every day last week. My granddaughter was here for the weekend. It was great. Now I'm ready to get back to work and nothing yet this week. Ring phone...Ring!

Re: Everyone busy this week?.... Tis still Monday...
It's still Monday... I only had one "basic" notary request today. Other than that, nothing.
I missed a call though from a number originating in California. Of course, five minutes later when I called the number back, no one new who called me. It was definitely an SS.
Your profile said you're a bail commissioner. Isn't that the same thing as a Justice of the Peace? One of my associates is a JP and he is automatically authorized to take bail.

no, but also missed a call this morning
and no one knew anything. But I also had 3 root canals scheuled for this afternoon, so didn't really want anything to do. However once I got there I found out I have an infection, so it's pills and anticipation until friday... ugh

In NH, the Bail Commissioner is appointed by the Judge of the District Court, but you have to be a JP before that can happen. I don't know about MA, but in NH the Bail Commissioner is the one who sets the bail and can also receive bail money for the court. It's an interesting job, but I never know when I'll be called. Had one this weekend at 2am and one last week at the Hospital.

Yep, got 15" but roads were cleared pretty quick. I had a 6pm on a 2 lane country, hilly road and the drive was just gorgeous.

Wow, Beth....
I live in ski and snowmobile country and we have hardly any snow. It's been a weird winter here. We didn't get any at all in my area this storm. I'm not complaining though, makes it easier to travel to signings. Last year I remember one signing where the road wasn't plowed. The snow was up over my wheels (thank God for 4 X 4).

Re: Everyone busy this week?.... Tis still Monday...
I would love to do that!! I wanted to become a JP so that I could be commissioned like my associate to take bail. Sadly when I called the appointing authority they said that their has to be 1 justice per every 5,000 residents. Unfortunately their was no open position for my town.
This made no sense because if I was empowered as a JP, then I could have exercised the authority anywhere in the Commonwealth.
In MA a JP is allowed to act as a notary. I think this is universal though.
All in all, it seems like you have a lot of credentials and background experience. Some states require a JP to have some sort of legal background, is this the case for you?

Re: Notary_MA
Here, the court appoints two commissioners per town, but I could do bail anywhere in NH. I usually only get called for three or four towns nearby and the County jail. In NH a JP can perform all the duties of the notary, plus performs weddings and be appointed bail commissioner. You don't have to have any legal background, but I work for the local Police Department and although it's administrative duties, I have learned a great deal about things through that capacity.

That's awsome!!
You're in a great position! Keep up the good work! Just think, nothing but good can come out of your credentials (unless of course if you abuse them). You can go nowhere but up from here.

WOW. It amazes me, all the things notaries in other
states can do. And thanks cmd.

Re: Notary_MA
In this area, you have to wear many hats. Not a lot of jobs around. I like to stay busy, and with all that I do, I do just that. I have taken on a bit more in the last year since my son left for Iraq (it helps keep my mind occupied), but I love all that I do and that's what's important. (And my husband says if I get just one more job, he's gonna retire and take up full-time hunting and fishing) haha! NOT!
