FYI for Wisconsin Notaries
If you are using preprinted certificates to attach to documents if necessary, they might be rejected from the County Recorders office if not the correct size. I had a notarization rejected because of this, and if I wouldnt of pushed the issue with the hiring company, I never would of found out. Your certificate is supposed to be 8.5x11 or 8.5x14. No smaller. The statute is 59.43(2m) on Standard Format Requirements for Recording Documents. Not all counties are rejecting the small loose certificates because I was using the loose certificates from here, but some counties are.

yes, the same thing happened to me here in Winnebago county early last year, when I used an attached certificate.

The lady at the County Recorders office said she rejects all the improper acknowledgements back so the message gets out. She also stressed black ink for the certificates. Which Ive always done anyway, so I wasnt worried about that. But seeing as it can take months for a mortgage to record, I wonder how many will actually come back. When I first found out about this, the hiring company "tried" to tell me I "forgot" to notarize the document. Which I knew wasnt true, but they were insistant thats what happened. Finally I spoke with someone else from the company and she said no it was rejected because..........., so on so forth. So then it was resolved. It just goes to show ya, stand your ground.
