HP3015 problems - printing 1 page at a time
Anyone else having issues w/their 3015? Not too long ago, I got a package that just would not print without me having to print just one page at a time. It would spool forever and then just spit out "garbage" at the top of my paper (if I didn't catch it, it probably would have gone thru all the paper in the printer doing that) Froze up my computer & everything. Ever since then, I haven't been able to print the whole package even at 10 pages at a time. I called HP, I've downloaded all the updates they told me to...nothing worked and they told me I needed to get it serviced...Printed a couple more slow one-page-at-a-time packages and wanted to pull my hair out because nothing I tried seemed to be working and the nearest place to get it serviced was 2 hours away... So I'm all set to get a new printer and all of a sudden, two packages in a row print lighting fast (under 10 min-80 pages!) So I get excited, and then it starts up again with the slow/no printing. What is going on?? All are PDF files...anyone else?

Have you tried printing through different programs (swiftview for example) and have the same problem? Or is it only with PDF files?

Haven't had to use swiftview in a while, most have been PDF. I keep up with the updates on Adobe Acrobat, too. When I first got the printer (a year ago), it worked great on everything, except that I never could get the scanning feature to work...the printing problems just seemed to have started within the last month or two. A couple of people have been telling me I need more memory for my printer. I don't think this is necessarily the problem because I can't even print out a 35 page package sometimes! I did notice that if the company links me to print thru their site, it does fine.

You can't add more memory to the 3015. At least that's what PAW told me.

Have you recently downloaded a newer version of Adobe? When I downloaded 7.0.5 (I think) It completely screwed up my system. I went back to 6.0 and have not had a problem since. PAW said it had something to do with lingering .dll's or maybe it was dangling chads...hmmm.

I think Paul said one time to uninstall the previous version of adobe before installing a new version.

I did that and still had problems.

I also had issues after updating Adobe. I uninstalled it then reinstalled and now it is working ok. I do still have slow printing if the docs have been scanned as a image rather than text. More memory would help that, I'm sure. If you are only having problems with Adobe, I don't think it is a printer error.

Thanks for your help! I uninstalled Adobe, now I'll reinstall only up to 6 and see what happens...I appreciate all your feedback!

You didn't say how the printer works when you try to print your personal stuff, word files quicken files ect. About updating Adobe, there are several messages on the subject. Use the search feature. basically you need to remove all old Adobe and associated files restart and then download the new Adobe.
One thing that I did instead of adding more memory (you can't to your printer anyway) is this:
From your windows desktop click start, then settings, then printers then right click on your printer. Choose preferences, then click spool settings, select spool print jobs and select start printer after first page is spooled. All my priters only have 16mb ram and I can print from anything anyone sends me or directly from the sites without running into any memory problems. It's still going to be slower when the files comes as images rather than text. Good Luck

Two other things you might wanna try if all the above still leads you to frustration: (1) turn off your anti-virus software, and try to print again if doing it from online, or (2) choose PCL 5e from your pulldown menu. PCL 6 is the newest, however, it has given lots of people (me included) problems. What used to be a 1 ppm nightmare with my 1320 using PCL 6 is now 10 minutes of printing double docs of 100 pages/package. If PCL 5e is not installed on your computer, go to the HP website and download it, select it (PCL 5e) as your primary printer, and try that option. Hope my babbling helped some...

Ditto to what ClariseOh and JessNC said-
When my printer started doing 5 pages at a time- and slowly- it was taking me two hours to copy out a single set of 75 pages- knew something was terribly wrong! (And that happened quickly last week- like in one days time)
First went an added a 1KB to memory- (actually my #1 Grandson did it)- and it still wouldn't do like it always did- spit out the copies "likkety split"-
So I asked #1 GS to erase the Adobe Program- and re-install it- he did with the 7.0 (not the up-graded this time), and "BINGO"- it's printing out like a brand new "MARCHINE".
No more slow going! (Now if I could get these "o'l bones" working again like before- I would be a "real happy camper"! ummm-maybe #1GS ? ummm.
Was it necessary to do both? Don't really know- but I do know- everything "doc wise downloading to copier and printing" is now the best it has been, for the equipment I have.
Would like to know, how you faired on getting yours resolved.
