Help California notaries!
I notarized some documents for a couples adoption, from China. I live in Orange county, but my commisiion is in Ventura county. My principsal place of business is noted as Orange County. This was back in August 2005. The couple just advised me today, Saturday that it was invalid because I am bonded in Ventra. Now, I thought per my class and the handbook, that one bond is good anywhere in Ca. ( Note we are MOBILE CALIFORNIA notaries) I want to call the county registar but it is a weekend. So can I get some feedback out there from you California Notaries? Thanks so much.

The State handbook reads, "Once commissioned, a notary public may perform notary public services anywhere in the state."

Thanks. I read the same thing. MAybe it is because it is an adoption from China.I did this for a friend, and so I did not charge her anything, However her adoption was delayed a bit.
Have an awesome weekend!

You are correct. Your notary commission is valid throughout California.

The notarization was valid, anywhere in CA. Who said it was invalid? The adoption agency? And why would they be concerned with your bond? I'm curious what agency would be relying on your bond.
