Help w/ Brother 8440 dual tray!!

I researched old mess. and have tried everything I can think of. I know the hardware is working because I can scan a page and print from my second tray. I've downloaded the native driver (someone suggested that). I can print from the 1st or 2cd tray if I set it up that way but for the life of me I can't get the auto select to work. ANY suggestions would greatly be appreciated. THANKS! (Please bear in mind I am not techno-savvy

I had the same problem when I got my 2nd tray. Go to the printer/faxes menu. Right click on the 8440 printer icon. Click on properties. Click on device settings. This is where you can assign for each tray and auto select paper. Also, when you are about to print, click on the preferences and make the default is auto select. When printing from PDF files there will be a box for you to click for auto select. Make sure that you've assigned the trays on the printer to match what you have in properties. Good Luck. It took me a couple of tries but it works perfectly now. (I also had to update my adobe reader)
