Letter from my Senator

A while back I expressed concern about valid Id's for the elderly in nursing homes. In WI there is no allowance for 3rd person witness to attest to their ID. I got a letter back in response to my email to Senator Dan Kapanke of WI (32nd District). Apparently he and his staff have met with the SOS and they are discussing statutory change!
See ...it pays to write your Senator!

Stamper,
That is great news!! Did you also know our per notarization fee is also going up to keep up with the changing times.
One other issue I would like to get addressed is some kind of training or class to be a notary in Wisconsin. It is, in my opinion, very much needed.
Congrats
Lisa

Hadn't heard about the fee! Do you know what it is going to be? It is so low now that I don't bother charging for it!

Re: and...

Stamper,
It is SB 75
Under this bill, a notary public may charge a reasonable fee, not to exceed $5,
for any service that he or she provides in his or her capacity as a notary public.
For further information see the state and local fiscal estimate, which will be
printed as an appendix to this bill
I also spoke with Susan Churchill from the SOS office and she is in complete agreement about the classes.
