Need Help With the Basics!

In order to view and accept e-docs, do I need any additional software besides the Adober Reader? [I have a Brother 8025D flatbed laser PCL6 printer.]

What exactly is Swirftview? Is it required?

Do I need to set-up a Business e-mail account (or just extend my personal e-mail account's capacity)?

With dual trays, once e-docs and/or faxes are received, are they automatically sent to the correct tray? [I also have a Brother's 4100 Business Class Laser Fax.]

Thanks!

Pam

There are some companies that use different viewers than Adobe. Do a search and see what comes up. Swiftview is just another program to open and print docs you may need it in the future. Set up a seperate email account for your notary work. That way you will not run out of space and not be able to receive docs and you can keep the personal from the business. As long as your printer is set up correctly and if you are using adobe and have clicked the box that says choose paper source by pdf page size your printer should automatically choose which tray to pull the paper from.

Hope this helps and Good luck.

Re: Need Help With the Basics - viewer prgms

If a e-doc file requires a viewer i.e. swiftview, then there usually is a note (or a link) on how to retireve the viewer.

Pamela,
A lot of companies use programs like swiftview, dynamic dox etc. They will usually, but not always, send a link for you to download the required program.

Swiftview is a document program. You will probably, at some point get docs that require this program.

Yes...Set up a business email account, GMail is a good one. Make sure it has plenty of storage and can accept BIG attachments!

The last question I can't answer because I'm not familiar with those machines. I have my dual tray set up to print by paper size of the original docs.

Regarding e-mail accounts.

It is best to have at least 2.

1. some companies send so many e-mails that their e-mail is classed as spam -- i.e NREIS's are often classed as spam by AOL.
2. sometimes one system is down for tech reasons and a backup can save your bacon.

I have AOL, MSN and YAHOO accounts.

Pamela:

1) If you need a gmail invitation I have a few left. If you have gmail you won't run out of room. Send an email to me at texnotary at gmail.com I always provide my gmail account to those sending edocs so they don't bounce due to my regular account filling up.

2) In the message thread at mesage #33325 there is a post that you can look for that will give you some practice doing edocs. This is not the program you asked about, but it will give you a general idea on what it is like to print edocs.

3) Also, there's lot of compiled info beginning w/ #33325.

4) When you post, if you'll add your state abbreviation to the end, it sometimes makes it easier for someone to give you assistance.

5) I use the orange search button all the time to find out info that may already be in earlier messages.

I'd say good luck to you, but it's more than luck. It's got a lot to do with late nights, reading the archives here and bloodshot eyes-- marketing is helpful also.
